Well Ice Devils make very good SCs and so they generally operate alone.

They have better HP, slightly better stats, and better resistances than Arch Devils so they are a better SC chassis, whereas the Arch Devils (with their inherent flying) are better used to lead your devil armies.

I would've guessed that it's smarter to let Mictlan have the Ice Devils, and make sure that you beat Mictlan to the punch in summoning Arch Devils.

I would prefer to have all of the 11 blood leaders thank you!

I would put the 3 water on my pretender and rush for blood 6 and get what I could with abysia. You should win the race since mictlain *needs* to go to construction 4 1st ( for SDR's while you do not ).

C'tis isn't a factor? Ouch, but sadly true http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif starting position with only 2 borders and one of them was very ugly. Did take out Tein Chi's army 2x on a lark. So it seems that this game is now on a path similar to many games that Cohen is in. He is in the early lead, we can all cooperate to take him down a notch, at which point he will cry foul and go computer controlled.

Will await other responses to see if we can have some fun, or just go computer controlled soon and save the time.

Last game I was in (still running, newbies unite) with Cohen he fought for much of the game against terrific odds and did not give up in this manner, so perhaps there is no need to jump to conclusions.

100% true. I OTOH quit when the alliance turned their foul eye towards me. Oh and I lost in a crazy battle.

Well, if in a game you've against a uber-atlantis with a dozen of Doom Horror, Niefelheim with a lot of stuff, plus Vanheim plenty of tartarians, earth kings, and many other stuff plus the benefit of having had Forge of the Ancients op for dunno how many turns, to be ghost rided and such every turn, it isn't so funny.

In other games I fight til the end because I've fun. Like Newbye Unite. Or other games.

As I believe everyone plays for fun.
However in this game I'm not leading at all. See the graphs, Pythium has more forts, provinces, and income.
Caelum has far better research with Ryleh too.

Got to agree with that. Although the subsequent question is: what if fun for you? Some people like fighting from impossible odds ( I am not one of them ). Some people simply like to win. It varies.

I do like how you tell half of the tale. A blood nation having that much resources ( and gems ) this early is very bad. Further you have no neighbors who can even beging to chalange your might. Your research and mine are the same and I am magic-3 Pythium! HA!

Gosh!

I am not getting any serious offers from anyone to substitute for me in the game (except Dragonfire, of course).

Did you post an advertisement outside of this thread? Sorry for the easily answered question, I'm too impatient (lazy?) to look.

Send a PM on the board to Frosted Flake, but he would help you out.

Ah Tien Chi launched a massive counterattack and is regaining some of his lands, having defeated consecutively two Abysyan armies.

We'll be forced to mobilize more troops and employ more resources into this war.

As to be expected, Abysia is very loose with the truth. We have retaken one province, and held it for one turn, at the cost of allowing our capital to come under siege. This siege is accomplished by none other than the Eternal Knights, a pretty impressive set of mercenaries!

Nonetheless, as Abysia states, we did defeat two consecutive Abysian armies, including killing a goodly number of devils (5-8, or so). If we can continue our insurrection for some time, we hope that other nations (most notably, Jotunheim), can take advantage of the increased attention that Abysia will be forced to pay to us.

Hi Boron:

No one has offered with great enthusiasm. But, Deccan has offered.

I will be sure to bring home many gifts of olive oil and fine Italian wine for you all! (the French among you might deny that there is any such thing as fine Italian wine, and the English might cringe at the idea of using olive oil in lieu of lard). Cohen, of course, does not need any gifts from Italy, because he lives there. That's like buying me a lobster (I am in Maine, USA).

I don't think it is necessary to pause the game. That would be a major drag on other players. There will be PLENTY of new games later for me.

Pasha

Well if Deccan doesn't sub, IMO Dragonfire could sub for Pashadawg, if we don't pause.

I'll sub if Pasha agrees and gives me detailed instructions. Didn't I originally ask to play Atlantis in this game before I defected to Panther's game?

Thanks. Don't go changin'

See ya when I get back on Oct. 6th.

Pasha seems to have done this turn already. I'll open it up to have a look-see, but I won't change his existing orders.

Esben Mose Hansen Posted this in his server thread in respones to Boron.

Newbie game start 3 was crashed with a "Something went wrong"... and then the word "pillager". Don't know what that is about. :-( I'll look into it later, but maybe you should contact Illwinter and hear if it means anything to them. Apparantly, it happens around a new turn generation. I can provide the game files no problem for error diagnostics.

Grim Knight
September 26th, 2004, 03:19 PM
Apparently the game crashed once everyone had finished their turns and the host tried to generate the next turn.

Hopefully this is something that can be overcome, however based on the sound of the error I feel this is doubtful.

Granted I am not an expert on this yet, but I suspect that this game will need to be restarted from the beginning yet again.

Huzurdaddi
September 26th, 2004, 03:33 PM
Well CRUD.

Oh well we can restart. We'll just give this game to Pythium http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Let's all remember for next game: Bidding on Mercinaries is a GOOD THING!

Huzurdaddi
September 26th, 2004, 03:41 PM
One more thing:

I'm playing a game on this map ( well to be precise the slightly larger Version ) and all I can say is that the use of gem generators on this map totally blows.

I have literally multiple hundreds of spies with fever fetishes on them and I am having a hard time even thinking about doing my turns since it is so freaking painful ( I also have a bijjilion clams and a quintillion blood stone ).

Could we place some limits on this kind of stuff?

Boron
September 26th, 2004, 04:34 PM
Well you don't need to clamhoard yourself . I know it is really painful once you exceed 50-100 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif .
Limits on clams etc. doesn't work because you don't see the spies so if someone wants to he can always break the rule .
It is either with clams or without via mod .

So is it actually confirmed that the game is hosed, or is everyone just being pessimistic? If the former, then crap. I was doing really well! I wouldn't _quite_ say that I had the game wrapped up, but pretty close... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Yeah the game seems to be hosed Moses confirmed it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I can't make a restart atm because in 2 weeks my new semester starts and then i don't have enough time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Well maybe someone can revive the game. If not ... *sigh* ... I was quite lucky with a couple of sites this game. Too bad.

I tell you I would LOVE to get a magus temple with Pythium. That would be the cats ***. But the Crystal Citadel was a close 2nd.

I'd be more than happy to set up a new restart of the game, if there's interest. Also, if we do start it up again, what do people think about switching some of the nations around? I've been playing a _lot_ of astral/fire lately...

I'll probably play Pythium http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm not THAT picky http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'd like to try T'ien Chi, as long as the previous owner doesn't object.
Also, what do I/we need to do to get the Möse Hansen slot from the old game reassigned for this one? (sorry if it's an obvious question; I've never started a game before...)

Huzurdaddi
September 27th, 2004, 07:54 PM
Honestly I would rather wait until Mose Hansen has support for Mods and the upload a Mod that reduces the effectiveness of growth stratgies. On a map this big the desire to clam/fetish/contract is just too powerful.

Huzurdaddi

Next time Matchaka, next time we will finish that war!

NO [censored]?!? What an awesome battle that would have been. There would have been tremendous firepower flying around.

I had exactly 32 communicants there and I think 8 thurges. I had just re-scripted 5 of them to x3 falling frost and the other ones to x3 thunderstike. It would have been a EXCELLENT battle.

DANG NUMB IT.

The stupid computer would have gone 100% soul slay/ensalve mind but the 1st 3 rounds ( while I did my script ) would have been great. Actually enslave mind ain't that bad http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Freaking-A!

I had five (yes, 5) libraries. I was also a couple turns shy of having the income needed to hire from all of them every turn. Why oh why did the game have to die?

*sigh* I had 4. And I had started pumping them as you can see from the research graph. Dang. And the Crystal Citadel! E2S2 mages with Pythium! They were like E6S6 or E7S7 in battle.... arghhhh!

Fricking-a.

Ygorl
October 2nd, 2004, 07:47 PM
I had the moon citadel... Ethereal assassins, and those moon mages were very close to being able to cast nether darts... Would've been brutal.
I remember someone complaining about not finding any libraries. I guess we know where they were.

Greetings All.

I am back after my tour of Tuscany. I was surprised to find that they don't do pizza very well in Tuscany, but I hear that it is more of a Southern Italian treat anyway.

I would be happy to play in any restarted game.
