Teaser. LOVE this tatoo! Let me know you're not going to find fault with every photo I post that I have from this year's Dragon*Con and I'll post some more. (of course, this assumes you have time to stop by for a visit... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif.

Where did I put my Viking helmet, that battleaxe, and the usual leather armour... Ah, here we go.
*Comes in to the thread disguised as a Primitive* With the (t)rusty IE, the image does appear, but I seem to be unable to give any kind of sensible comment. I should settle for a "very beautiful, what was I doing back when the Dragon'Con took place?".

Where can I get that girl? Purrrr....
That babe is sooo my stile. More purrrr....
Edit: My Last GF had a few tatoos. On the left side of her body she had a snake going from her bellybutton along her breast and ended just below her neck. She had a scorpion on her back just above her butt and a tatoo of barbwire on her right upperarm. Miauw...

Tesco! I love you! Erh, perhaps not, but you get my meaning. I cannot see the picture under Firefox either; is it the browser you use? I think it is something about how the URL is handled (or at least, that is what I inferred after some weird problems with Slynky's pictures).
It isn't linked to my ISP, and isn't dependent on my computer either, so that might be a random bug with Firefox. It does work well with the mothballed IE though. And since you are affected by the very same problem, I gather I should drop my own theory of "Plot against Alneyan for reasons yet to be determined". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
If you still can't get it to work, I should be able to forward the picture to you in a mail.

Same issue here; it works in IE but not in my preferred Firefox.

For those who can't see the image without the hassle of changing browsers, it's my fault (sigh). Fyron was both kind enough to notify me again that I didn't know my "right from my left" still and he did it in private (to spare me the embarrassment, I guess). The Internet has been down (till now) due to 35 MPH winds in our area and left over rain from hurricane Frances. So I couldn't correct it (and Fyron was nice enough to help out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif).
I'll see if I can do better in the future!
PS: And, I have LOTS more!

Here is a girl who dressed up as Arwen. She doesn't look like her but was faithful to the dress (I have another photo of a girl 10 minutes later in nearly the same dress!). But, she was very nice and very pretty.

Elves have a proper body hygiene! Thus they cannot stink. No, really, there is no problem with my reasoning. Pointy ears are nice; you are just being jealous of Elves, that's all. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
And the Ilythiiri (Dark Elves, Drows, as you will) ... Don't even speak of them. You will have a tough time explaining their complexion though (why would a people never seeing daylight have an ebony complexion? And going the way of a divine punition isn't likely to help the matter either, but I digress).

Yeah, David, I saw the "Kell" people there. I have a few shots of their group gathering before the parade (on Saturday) as well. LOTR people, I think.
Wifey even dressed up this year. Since we are devoted Firefly fans ( http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif ), she did her best to dress up as Zoe. Wig didn't come in time for the weekend (and, of course, my wife isn't the same skin color as her but she admires the character). Don't anyone DARE make fun of her looks ( http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif ). Remember, unlike most of you here, I'm old (53), and she's quite a bit younger than me and very very attractive to me. (I think she's not quite happy with me posting her pic here but...since it was her first time in costume...I couldn't resist).
I'll get back to posting pics for a "younger" group later.

BTW, David, about 6 doors down from our hotel room, the KAG (Klingon Attack Group - or - Klingons of Atlanta, Georgia....not reallys sure what it stood for looking at their banners) received special permission from the hotel to have a party outside/inside their hotel room. I don't think the noise died down till after 3 in the morning!
In the same parade, they had "converted" an old (circa 1970s) car to a Klingon warbird. I'll have to post a pic of it, too.

Meanwhile, back to the "popular" pics:
(don't ask me what character this is supposed to be...a gothic fairy?)
There was a rule at the "*Con": You couldn't be totally nude. So, for example, as long as the nipple was covered, it was OK. (hopefully, this photo is allowed here as this person roamed around the convention and outside of the convention in "conservative" Atlanta...and as we have seen in the link David gave, there were lots of kids there, too)

Dear Slynky, might I give you some words of advise?
I suggest you keep more pics of your wife to yourself. The pics are highly disturbing. They make me... well shall we say primitive (sorry Primitive One). The most ancient of urges begin to surface and soon after I'm out of control.
So do us all a favor and keep those pics out of sight!
Yes, this is a huge compliment. Both to you and your wife.
David:
Thanks for posting the link David. I'm going to browse it as soon as I have had my diner. It's the dessert of tonight.

How kind of you, Timstone!
Told my wife of your compliment, and though it made her feel good, it was not much help. Seems I posted without total "permission", so she insisted I do the same "to myself". So, gulp, here I am on the couch of our hotel. She says I'm a mixture of Picard and Sean Connery with glasses but not as good looking as them. (personally, I think it's their accent/voice that smites her http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif).
So, to keep peace in house...

Slynky
September 8th, 2004, 11:21 AM
Yeah, like I'd own a hotel...LOL.
Ever been to a convention? Though we live 35 miles south of it, we decided a few years back that doing the "con" all day and driving back and forth was too tiring. So, we book the Marriott (one of the hotels hosting the con) for the weekend. $500! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif After all, up at 9 am, and to bed at midnight every day of the con. Wifey and I do this as our only vacation for the year. So, we "swallow" the cost.

OK, one more of the "famous" type.
Firefly fans should know these people. If you aren't a Firefly fan, you're missing out! It is a show that was canceled in its first year on American TV yet, chose to release a DVD collection of the first (and Last) season. The DVD sales of Firefly outsold most other TV shows released on DVD that year even though the others were established and successful shows! So much so that Universal bought the rights to make a movie (Firefly Movie (http://www.serenitymovie.com/) ). If it does well, there will be 2 more made!
Nathan Fillian ("Mal"), Adam Baldwin ("Jayne"), and Jewel Stait ("Kaylie") are the people you see (of course, if you are Firefly fans, you know this already http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif).
And they were loads of fun! Nathan and Adam are natural-born-speakers. They joked, poked fun at each other, and without a doubt, had fun. As part of the team who sponsored the Firefly Fan Table at the con, I learned that the panels with the 3 people who represented the Firefly cast set records for attendance at the 3 sessions they appeared at! When I say records, I mean for the 20 years of Dragon*Con! For a show that was canceled in its first year,it's amazing that more people attended those sessions than any other similar type sessions ("meet the actors"). Like, for instance, the Star Trek events.
Adam was the biggest partier! He showed up at midnight twice at Firefly meetings. The second time, he brought the unreleased trailor for the Serenity movie and a gag reel from it. Ran it twice. Basically, he just showed up and had fun with his fans. You know, there is an official forum for Firefly fans. Adam Posts there regularly chatting with members. I think it's nice that an actor with such a long acting career (IMDB Listing Of Adam's Career (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000284/)) can take the time to mingle. When the show was being canceled, fans flocked the website, took out full-page ads to try to keep it running, and basically, jumped up and down in support of the show. Adam's first post to the site and fans was, "I'm your biggest fan." And he just acted like a guy who enjoyed a party.
Yeah, I know he was there "doing business", trying to keep interest up. But he was more than that. I think he really enjoyed meeting the fans and chatting. Otherwise, why would he show up at places where he wasn't even scheduled to be. (ya gotta appreciate actors that just "hang")
Trekkies? You ain't seen NOTHING yet! Watch out for the "Browncoats"!

That was for 3 nights (still expensive due to price increases for Dragon*Con). So, basically $150 plus hotel taxes. It was a big room, 2 TVs, safe, refridgerator, oversized jacuzzi tup, heat lamps, (etc.), bedroom area with a separate "living room" area.

LOL...
For now, it is held in Atlanta, Georgia (home of the Olympics one year). This was the 5th, I think, year in Atlanta (and 18th over all). Right down town. Besides travel, it's not to bad as the hotel gets VERY lenient with multiple guests in the rooms. Though rooms are $150 USD, get with 4 other peeps (with air mattresses or sleeping bags) and the price becomes VERY affordable. You can learn more here (http://www.dragoncon.org/).
As to wifey (LOL), I had to train her. You see, before we got married, she was a "Melrose Place", "Dallas", "Beverly Hills 90210" sort of person. Though she had a sci-fi movie or 2 under her belt, I "force-fed" her Star Trek (TNG), Star Trek (movies), Star Wars, Terminator series, Alien series, Pitch Black/Riddick Cronicles, Enterprise, Planet of the Apes series, 2001/2010 Space Odessey, Stargate, Outland, 5th Element, Armagedden, (well, you get the idea...more than I need to list here) till she cried, "Uncle!". And when Firefly came along, that was IT! She was converted!
Currently, we're renting the Taken series from Blockbuster.
She plays a lot of Mechwarrior 4 (and 3) on the MSN Gaming Zone (under the name Valkyrie). And we pull out the CyberStorm game once in a while and compete against each other. BUT, though she gave it an honest try, SE4 just wasn't her cup of tea (sigh). Well us husbands can't have everything, right? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif

Who can identify this star?
She appeared at the con and chatted, took questions, and just had fun. She laughed, got interrupted by calls from her husband, talked about her "famous kegger" and paused for me to take this pic.
I'll give 2 clues: Can you say Buffy or Taken?
Don't know the actress' name, but the character she played on Buffy (& Angel) was Darla, the vampire that sired Angel.
Yep, none other than Darla. I can still hear her voice when she showed back up in Angel... "Hello, lover."
Her name is Julie Benz. Not an actor loaded with lots of credits but nothing to be ashamed of. You can see here (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004748/). She was a load of fun, making fun of herself, and told us a long story about giving a party for the actors in her class (and trying to attract the instructor, who she married later and has been married to for 6 years). Told another story of how she got "star-struck" when she had to do a scene with "Jack" (Jack Nicholson. For those who follow his impressive career, you know by now that he is simply, "Jack").
She was very friendly, laughed a lot, and hung around after nearly all the other famous people left the "autograph" area and just chatted.
And she did it herself. By that, I mean, no famous father, brother, etc.
I like her.

I can't recommend Firefly enough! As a dedicated "Trekkie", I STOPPED watching Enterprise for Firefly. The series (well, ex-series) has (had) multiple plots going on, some unique characters (not re-hashed stuff), and a wonderful writing staff. Check out the "Out of Gas" episode for a very good example of writing technique! Absolutely wonderful piece.
But back to River (Summer Glau). She's a "cinderella story" herself. Besides her natural ability to act the part she has, she has that pouty/soulful looks and innocent yet sexy stage presence. By "cinderella story", I mean this (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1132359/). Nearly NO acting experience yet in a major Universal movie. I guess Joss saw in her the same thing I see. (grin)

The gag reel on the DVD is the shortened Version! As an insider (grin), I have the WHOLE reel. It's twice as long as the one on the DVD.
While I was at Dragon*Con, I met a few other people a bit closer to the action. Jeremy, who's site is here (http://www.fireflymovie.com/news.html), is a guy who owns his own multimedia company (in Utah, USA). He made this site that has one purpose...to try to help the first weekend's box office totals of the movie, "Serenity" be a hit. If it does well, Universal will make two more! Check out his "Guerilla Marketing" suggestions http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif. He also appears in the movie as an extra (a monk tattooed on the back of his head that tries to put the "move" on a prostitute). He is a very nice guy.
And another guy was there helping run the Firefly Fan Table. I didn't know it till the Last day but he is a close personal friend of Jewel Stait. Jewel went to a birthday party there and this guy was invited. He has known her for 7 years and though she is in the "biz", still keeps in touch with him. Nice to see that people don't get so "big-headed" that they forget their friends.

Hey there RD, I thought you'd never show up.
I already posted the pic you posted.
So, if you know many more girls like that, please let me knoe. I'm very interseted. After all, the UK isn't that far. I could swim it with a drysuit... and a ship to rest in. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif
In my neighbourhood girls like that (nice long black hair, wearing black clothing) are very, very scarce. Too bad.
ANyway, I´m having a period of relative rest now. Within a month or so I´m going to get busy again. I have to go to Italy again (Jippie, off to Turin again). I hope the girl from Last time is still there. She's got black hair too.

My Last GF was excactly 6 feet tall, I'm 5' 11". You can see that, unfortunately, I'm not tall but rather small (in my country that is). The average length of a male here in Holland is quite tall compared to other countries in the world.

Oh, like many, I did the tourist thing. Madurodam (spelling?) and Keukehof (spelling again?). But I rode around the country, too. I never took tour buses. Just drove where I wanted to. Now that I remember, Holland's road signs, as one approaches intersections, are unique. I liked them. But, I stopped off at a few castles and a famous cathedral (my spelling sucks today!).
One of the things I remember most is stopping at a lake to ask directions. Several young people (they were around 20 years old and I was around 28) stopped by to help. They had just finished swimming and were waiting on their friend to come and get them. The girl (the only one) asked if she could change out of her swimsuit in the back of my van. So, naturally I said "yes". So, she changed and her friends and I chatted at the driver's door. I remember wanting to look in the rear-view mirror but I remembered my American manners and never looked. To this day, I think how wonderful it is that so many Europeans can be so open about nudity.
Lots of people in Holland spoke English. Another thing I remember is that they spoke it with a British accent. Not like people in Germany (who really had not much of an accent at all). I found it interesting and just figured it was because Holland was so close to England.

Thanks for the links Slynky! I should check it out one of these days (or, in other words, later this evening).
I had forgotten the problem of getting the actual DVD in France though. While it can fairly easily be bought via Internet, the additional taxes tend to be impressive (in no specific order, shipping costs, duty taxes, "bonus" duty taxes for some goods, currency changes taxes, taxes to pay for all the expenses occurred by the previous taxes, and taxes to fund a swimming pool or two). But it looks like I am digressing once more.
So, back to the actual topic. The only thing I can say about this second tattoo is "gasp". But the first one... No, I shouldn't get started about wings and tattoos. And her look... *Goes away from the thread before fainting*

I seem to have been proven wrong this time; Amazon steps in as a worthy site if you need to import something (without suffering long shipping delays and prices closer to the ones practiced by armed robbers). Erh, what happened to my promise of stopping my wild rants?
However, if someone is willing to help me out with another matter, it would certainly be appreciated. The DVD in question belongs to the Zone 1 (US and Canada), while Europe is in Zone 2. Does this limit mean anything for computer DVD players, or is it only important for TV DVD players? Does it depend on the DVD player? Can you guess I am truly computer illerate? (Or anything related to electronics for this matter) Should I steal Deadstar's own DVD and be done with it?
Thanks in advance for any answer! I will remember I owe you a favour. *Grumbles* http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Zoning is not much of an issue with computers. DVD-ROM drives can read any zoned DVD. What might be an issue is your DVD playing software. There are programs that will bypass zoning garbage, such as AnyDVD (http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html), which runs in the background and descrambles the DVD info, allowing any software to play the movie. They have a trial Version you can use to play a single DVD. If zoning is going to be a big issue, might be worth the 40 dollars US to buy it.

Sorry to offend (smile).
So, how about the "angels" from the Crűx Shadows band (one of my favorite bands!). They mingled with the crowd at D*C and were dancers during the concert:
http://se4-gaming.net/images/dc/23.jpg
The band's site is here (http://www.cruxshadows.com/). And just a quick word about the band...mostly the lead singer, "Rogue". Though a band that caters to the 18-22 crowd, he spent 20 minutes chatting with an old goat like me. We talked about his father, his upbringing (his father was in intelligence officer working at the same place I did at the same time in Germany!), and how he almost went to Officer Candidate School (but had a serious chat with his dad, a colonel, who suggested he follow his desire for art instead of a military career). Actually, I had to interupt him and let him know that a lot of other younger people were waiting to chat with him. But, regardless of that, his music is so damned good!

It's really not that remarkable. Many people enjoy the feeling they get from being admired by others. Some almost crave the attention, and it can be a form of obssesive behavior itself. You and I just can't truly relate to the experience of being viewed in such a manner, since we don't have the physical attributes that are neccesary to attract such admiration. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Simply shadow the Assassin yourself, dear Deadstar. As the Assassin attempts to shadow yourself, she will have to remain concealed from your eyes, which will not be an easy task if you are shadowing her yourself.
Since no Assassin can perform well while being stralled, you will be perfectly safe, so long as you do not break this life circle. Should you falter in your shadowing efforts, consider your life forfeit by these simple rules of logic.
If the Assassin does not realise you can be now be killed (after a few days of unlimited tedium shadowing someone shadowing you, your mind can be a bit sleepy), your duty, as a honourable denizen of the Cantina, is to report this situation with all haste to the shadowing Assassin. We cannot suffer such failures in the behaviour of our Assassins.

The "ours" was merely a manner of speaking. Our little association does have such Assassins, hence the use of the possessive pronoun "ours". I do not have one Assassin at my disposal however, did not contract this Assassin I never heard of, and cannot possibly know that this Assassin (whose very existence remains a mystery to me) is female, let alone that she was available for employment. As such, I could not ask your head to this Assassin I have no knowledge of, even if I had wanted to (perish the thought!).
Alas, there can be no such rule to the standard guideline of Assassins, and so you will be no exception to the cold blade of these lethal killers unbeknowst to me. However, I could likely rescind this order I never gave; to do so, you but have to manage to find the adress of the lovely person displayed in Slynky's first teaser. Once you have done so, I will gladly remove any non-existant contract from your head.
The Tiger can never begin acting in a serene manner, unlike my peaceloving self. I will grant you that he did mention chastity belts and the like, but why should such... erh... devices regarded as being "peaceful"? To the best of my knowledge, the Tiger did not even hinted at what purposes he had in mind. As such, I discard any such thing as a Tiger being peaceful; at best, it is hearsay, and at worst a full-blown conspiracy to tarnish his name.
Edit: Obviously, the moment I post my query, I manage to get the answer on Google at long Last. Tsk. (For the curious reader, this side note was about Liddy and the Watergate, as Geo mentioned both one hundred Posts below)

I don't think that is supposed to be a death sort of look. That looks like one of the characters from Farscape.

I'm sure you're right http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif, I never watched Farscape. Thanks for the info!

Yup, that is one of the Farscape characters. I really liked Farscape one of the few new SF-showes that managed to intrigue me. I'm disapointed that it wasn't showed my country (lovely Holland) anymore. Ah well, things change.
The Last pic was very much to my liking Slynky. Good show. Bis, bis!
RD & Alneyan:
Gents, you're making it far too complicated for my assasins to kick your butt. You know what? I'll cancel the contract, have the assasins assassinated and kill you all with a nice big juicy nuke. Deal?

I have no problem with your suggestion dear Timstone. Note, however, that this thread will be deleted should you ever attempt something looking like a direct or indirect attack on myself. I do not speak for RD however.
Likewise, using unconventional weaponry for mere assassinations is a tad bit overkill. I would have expected you to figure out more subtle ways to kill someone. And obviously, standard nukes may trigger massive retribution from other powers in this world, thus resulting in an equally swift death for yourself.

I certainly hope your warning is nothing but mockery RD. I take it you did do something funny with his food today, or even yesterday? Otherwise, telling him in advance you will try to... erh... to show your skills as a cook seems a bit counter-productive to me. What? Was it only friendship? A odd word.
On a side note, may I link back to my favourite from Last year thread? The full thread is available here (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=155996&page=&view=&sb=5&o =&fpart=2&vc=1) .

But if he's too paranoid to eat anything then he'll die anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I can't believe we're discussing the asassination of my favourite Dutch man http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif

RD! Do not follow the same path as Growltigger! Do not become a peace-loving leader! Blood and assassinations are part of our duty as Princes of Enlightenment and Benevolent Rulers.
Unless... unless it is only a new kind of affection striking Albion. Growltigger grows peaceful, and Raging Deadstar thinks of peculiar concepts such as "friendship". Hopefully, Dogscoff will remain a barbarian/valkyrie of some sort. Otherwise, the Cantina itself will become a merry-go-round at this rate. *Shivers*

Timstone wakes up walks into his throneroom and a servant brings him his meal. Timstone orders his servant (a nice lady with vampteeth and long curly black hair wearing nice tight black leather clothing) to taste the food. The servant eats the food and stays alive. Timstone thinks the food is save to eat. So He consumes the meal with no side-effect and goes on with normal everyday live. Suddenly He feels a cramp in his tummy. Fortunately he has no worries whatsoever, because a short time in his sarcafocus (I don't know how to write it properly) will completely heal him and render him free of any nasty poisons and the like.
Sorry RD, I will remain on this Earth to pester humanity for the rest of my long life. Your puny plan to poison he via my food is not very effective. YUou should have tried blowing up my home, my computer or something even more brutal, my GF. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif
Damn, I'm giving him good ideas, bad idea. Stupid me...
RD & Alneyan:
You two are cool guys. Me like you! RD, we should explore the universe again on my timetraveling gearbox.
Nice pic by the way.

Sarcophagus aye? You been watching too much Stargate my friend, and I know way too much Egyptian Mythology/History. The word itself is really interesting, so if you want to know the meaning go Here. (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=sarcophagus)
As for blowing up your girlfriend....I'm not that stupid. Remember the phrase "Hell hath no fury..." http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Yeah, I've been watching too much Stargate alright. I've bought Season 7 and I have watched all the episodes in a matter of two weeks (I wanted to spread the episodes, but failed). Damn , that was very cool.
And one of those badgirls is wow! Hathor, here I come!
Thanks for not blowing up my GF. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hathor...Pah. Osiris was much better. Well, the Stargate Version anyway. In real Myths Osiris was a he!
Obligatory Stargate Quote:
Daniel : She's Hathor, the goddess of fertility, inebriety, and music.
Jack O'Neill : Sex, drugs, and rock & roll?

Haha... LOL.
I've only sen SG SG-1 season 1 and now season 7. I've watched the preview to SG Atlantis. I don't know what to think of that. On one side I say: "This is soo stupid, they're using SG as a milkcow.". But on the other side I'm very curious to see it. More of the same! Wohoo!

Atlantis definitely is not up to par with the original Stargate. This may just be because the actors have not fallen into their roles yet though...

I think we'll (we in Holland) shall she Atlantis no sooner then 2006 or something. And when we start seeing Atlantis, the serie will be showed to us is a period of about 5 or 10 years. I freakin' sucks that the tv-stations will buy only a very small part of the serie, smear them out over a very long period and show a lot of reruns (back to the first episode). All this just to attract one or two percent more viewers. If a serie is cool to watch at, the serie will attact it's main addience in it's first period, I think there will be an addtional one maybe two percent increase in viewers (people who never have seen the serie, not the verterans that leave. So it's not an overall percentage) due to the reruns. Stupid policy. When I become a tv-tycoon, I'll... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Nirrti is my choice for the most beautiful (and yet strangely, the most evil) of them!
What Atlantis lack for me is Stargate's linking ancient history with aliens and future technology. That is part of what hooks me into series...beyond stuff blowing up!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I just started collecting the series (Season 2 on its way), and its fun to see that they really seem to have had a focus and direction from the first season. It's fun to see these shows in order! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Still, they are making a good run of it, and the stories are moving along well.
