I am working on a Star Wars Empire set and here is what I am planning on using as the carriers.

They are good ships, but they lack that triangular shape that George Lucas was obsessed with... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The second two ships might have minis that look too similar.

I don't see any images; did you take the link down or is the forum still broken?

I went with a new look for the carriers. I am still working with the images to make them more unique than they are all ready.

Think Rebellion.

They look more like huge transports to me. Wouldn't an Imperial 'carrier' just be a standard warship? It seems like they were all 'carriers' to some degree. Being so huge they could be multi-purpose and still be formidable in all roles. I guess you could make a Star Destroyer with lots of open fighter bay doors on it and call it a 'dedicated' carrier? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

They remind me of the Pillar of Autumn from Halo; I don't see any star wars parallels, but they are very nice nonetheless.

I liked the pics, but they don't say "STAR WARS" to me. Not even Star Trek. But then again, the Rebellion was using any and everthing they could get their hands on to have a fleet. That's why there was no uniformity in the look of the ships in SWVI. Only the fighters were uniform, given the different types: ie, X-Wings were fighters, Y-Wings were fighter-bombers, etc. If you included them in a Star Wars set, I wouldn't complain. But then again, I rarely use carriers and fighters.

While the games are not Star Wars canon, from TIE Fighter on up they introduced the Imperial "Escort Carrier" which should give you an idea of how utilirian a design the Empire came up with for a dedicated carrier. It was basically a box, with engines at one end and a big gaping maw of a fighter bay at the other, along with a few weapons scattered about its hull. It is a very uninteresting design.

Your ship is somewhat reminiscent of it, widened and turned on its side and with a fancier hull. Other than the frigate, however, there aren't many "tall" ships in Star Wars canon (or the games for that matter), so perhaps you should turn the ship on its side. Ships in SW tend to be more like speedboats than say, sailing ships.

For inspiration, you could google for Star Wars ship info/stats/pics

Thanks Sivran. Good idea. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I liked the tall ship look, don't ask me why, but I thought it look unique in some way. I can use these designs for something else I guess.
