How can I move my homeworld elsewhere.

As far as I know, you can neither move planets nor change the homeworld designation.

I was pretty sure. But someone might have found a way to hex-edit it.

The save game file appears to be encrypted so it would be difficult to hex-edit it. It would be nice to be able to move your home world, though... switch it to a nice huge breathable world in a well-protected area.

That would be nice addition for SEV. For example, to build a facility (ie. huge linear accelerator which goes through planet) which would allow to move a planet. For example, 1 sector in a turn. Hmm... I think I will post this to SEV developement propositions thread.

And if any one ever figured out how to do this, well that would be ---------------- bad. (Bad for PBW Games and such)

Only if they realised it. Which they may do without realizing the side-effects.

you cant exactly do that, but you can colonize another planet and build the same facilities on it, and move your population in transports to the new colony. And you can even give it the colony type of "Homeworld."

But there are two things about a homeworld that you can't replicate with new colonies: They never riot, and you cant capture them with Puppet Political Parties.

Thanks, I was never sure before whether PPP works on homeworlds or not. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Planetary engines were on the 'to do' list for SE IV but never implemented. It was only in the very Last patch that planetary cloaks were implemented. Send your request to MM and maybe it will bump planetary engines up the priority list for SE V. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Planetary engines would be great. I'll put them on every planet. If a star is about to explode, I'll warp all my planets out of the system. I might move ALL of my planets to one system and protect that one system with everything I've got.

Once I've researched sphere worlds, I'll put engines on those and gather them all up in one spot. All the ship training facilities will stack and the ships built there will instantly be at 20% experience. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Edit: move all the planets to the same spot, too and form a fleet.
Attack using a fleet of sphere worlds filled completely with weapon platforms! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I just got an image in my head of a fleet of sphereworlds in fleet combat. Thanks, Kamog. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

And it makes the people unhappy when you lose Homeworld #1. Big unhappy.
