Yes, I left it vague so you'd come in here, because if some of you saw the question you wouldn't open the thread, and I'd like to see the 'no' people counted, too.

Okay, it's come up a few times and now I'd like to see the actual numbers.

This song should be sung while rapping on your head and making a knocking sound with your tongue.

Chorus

I'm a nut, (Knock, knock)
I'm a nut, (Knock, knock)
I'm a nut, I'm a nut, I'm a nut, (Knock, knock)

Called myself on the telephone,
just to hear my golden tone,
Asked myself out for a date,
said I'd be ready by half-past eight,

(Chorus)

Took myself to the movie show,
sat myself in the very first row,
wrapped my arms around my waist,
got so fresh I slapped my face,

(Chorus)

Took myself on a rowboat ride,
me, myself and I inside,
looked up at the stars above,
asked myself 'Am I in love?'

(Chorus)

I've been thinking about posting that one.

Are we all not a little bit so?

Interesting results. 5 out of 23 currently said yes, that's almost a quarter (well, maybe closer to 20%). That's a larger amount than I would have expected. Also, it depends on how you define a "mental illness".

appropriate sig files I have made up, from my huge collection.

-- HEY You might think Im crazy but that doesnt count for much. What counts is what I think of myself. And I think Im crazy.

-- HEY You might think Im crazy but that doesnt account for much. What counts is what professional authorities think. And they think Im beginning to do much better now.

-- Remember: its not the ones who tell you they are crazy that you need to worry about. Its the ones who tell you they are not crazy.

--
Normal people who think they are crazy, are average.
Crazy people who know they are crazy are safe.
Normal people who think they are normal are fanatics.
Crazy people who think they are normal are considered to be dangerous.
Therefor, Avoid anyone who says they are normal.

Took a vote and with a majority of 7 to 5, the voices say I’m sane.

Very good. I like that.

-- Ive wrestled with reality all of my life.
It seems to win 2 out of 5. But I refuse to give up.

So the only question is how to count the Last three in.

Even if we throw them out, or even add them to the 'no mental illness' side of the equation it would seem that there is a disproportionate number of persons with mental illnesses on this board.

Perhaps that's why we get along so well, fewer of us 'sane' folk to muddle things up . . .

Sanity is very subjective. Maybe those of us who are considered "insane" are actually sane and everybody else is really insane.

People who are crazy do not know they are crazy. They think they are normal. This is why so many "I am insane" defenses fail. Insane people don't think they are insane.

Yep pretty much, Although I remember a phrase one of my friends once said.

Amongst my friends it's the guy who doesn't think he's Napoleon who's insane

This was usually followed by a lot of stereotypical french evil laughter.

What would be the "stereotypical french evil laughter"? Would it be a major improvement over the plain "stereotypical evil laughter"? Why do I ask such questions?

My guess would be something along the lines of the castle scene from Monty Python & the Holy Grail...

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Seely Englishmen! I farrrt in your general die-rection!"
