View Full Version : Supply Satellite Question

Ok I can make a satellite with Supply Storage Units and Solar Collectors. So presumably I have a satellite generating supply and storing it in the storage. How do I get a ship to get the supply? Is it possible? Thanks

Satellites have infinite supplies and can not share them with ships. Supply Storage and Solar Collector units should not be available to satellites, as they do absolutely nothing, but they are...

Incidentally, this also applies to bases.

Thanks I suspected that after my tests ended in failure:-) Well guess that is one strategy I won't be trying again.

You have to make refueler ships instead. More useful anyway since you can send them far out to recover ships you picked up in trade and want to get back into your space.

I still use remote space stations as supply depots; just put a station in your fleet for 1 turn. I seem to remember this was a feature, then it was removed, then re-added. Fleeting ships with bases that is...

Fleeting ships with units was removed a long time ago IIRC.

Am I running an old Version perhaps? I thought I was running 1.91.

The ability to put bases in fleets is still an option with 1.91. It is set with the following line in the settings.txt file:

Bases Can Join Fleets := True

The default setting is False, so in stock games, you can not add bases to fleets.

That was why I wrote it was an option with the 1.91 Version, and an option alone. I did not claim it was the default setting.

Oh yeah, I remember changing the settings now. I do like building a remote spacestation hiding in some far-away storm to refuel at.

Some may see it as an exploit, but I like doing it anyways... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The exploit is being able to emergency build a space station in a turn or two with the space yard ship that many players include in major fleets, completely refeuling your fleet, then scrap the station and move on.

That's not an exploit, that's a mod... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Version 1.91 has the new startup splash screen. A quick and easy way to tell if you are running that Version.

Does anyone know what decides wether satelites can share supplies with ships setting in the TxT files or is it hard coded now

Units simply can't share supplies with non-units.
