Here it is. Sign up here for the Final Star Trek Mod game.

Tesco run style. Yep self sufficent..

This will be a game set on 60 hours Auto. And will not be turned off....

Settings. 1 Plant Start. Everything on. Except events will be turned off.

But to make this game fun. We all sign up and then our empire is drawn out of a hat. Who we play. I will be in. ( Damn me for not keeping to my commitments of cutting down PBW. Oh well sucker I guess )

I am looking for enough players to play the major races...

And those who would like to play as a back up for people on vacation etc....

Also. When you sign up. Your in it for the long run. Even when your empire is dead. You will shift over to the back up pool.

This game will be heavy RP.

The game will start as soon as AT releases the final Version of the Star Trek Mod.

I would like to see a nice combo of vetern and new PBW players.

Victory conditions are. When the surviving players wish to end the game.

Other rules.

Miss 4 turns no notice. Replacement takes over.

If I play I will want to have some one create the map.

I take it then that the map will be generated, rather than the "star trek map" that was created to be true to the genre? I only ask because I am eating my words. In the Quadrants of Conflict game I raised a great deal of concern over using that map, saying that since it was known to all that it would take something away from the game. In fact, I found the opposite to be the case - it's quite nice for the RP aspect to use the RP map (I think it's called something different but for the Quad game it is "QuadrantsofConflictV1.8.MAP")...and, after all, starfaring races have big telescopes, don't they...

just asking...

Hi,

Tesco if you want I can send you the map (it's a changed map by me and Tnarg, and not standard with the STM-mod)

Indeed Quadrants of Conflict is an very fun but most of all realistic Star Trek game (as I intended) So ussing the map will work.

But your idea of the great-empire-pool, is interested also, So you could count me in.

Intimidator,

If you enable the "map seen by all players" option and tell everyone to not take the Ancient Race trait, using an available map is a null issue.

You are right, but the point was that Tnarg's map was available for everybody (it comes with the mod) so some people we're affraid that scouting wasn't necessary anymore, but the opposite is true.

I, as an Romulan, still have lots of (cloaked http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif) ships flying around for scouting purposes only.........(psst, but don't tell Alarikf, he is the Klingon http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )

Interested. I hope this game won't start until November? If so, please count me in. (Hell, I can even act as a replacement player in a pool!).

I see that many players from Quadrant of Conflict are already in. Think it will be boring to play the same map twice.

I sent an email to the PBW admin about the mod update.

I have a Data Files Only (http://www.astmod.com/zips/stm/STM190Data.zip) zip mainly for PBW updating.

We need to make sure that the PBW admin does not update 1.7.5 but rather does a fresh install of 1.9.0.0.

I have had very very very very very very to the 100 millionth power bad luck getting either Geo or other PBW admin to correctly load or even load any of my mods on to PBW so I am not holding my breath as to when this one will be added, or even if it will be correctly added.

I will most likely have an update for the mod by the end of the week. As I play I find a few things that need adjusting or tweaking just a tad. So before you start this game or even before the mod is uploaded to PBW, we should wait until the update is released. In the mean time play test the mod and let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions.

Thanks.

Hi Game is full now...
10 players.... Now here is how we pick the empires...

ALL this will be done on Shrapnelforum for all to watch...

Atrocities please send me a list of the 10 empires to use in the game.

After Atrocities sends me the list... I will assign a number for each empire.

This list will be sent to a third party. ( KWOK )

After that I will post on the forum for you to pick your number 1 to 10... Once a number is used... It cannot be picked again. By default I get the Last available number.

When that is done

I will post the list of empires and their number.

That is your empire.

Now if you want to make it even more interesting

If i end up with the
Federation = 5000 racial points
Borg = 3000 racial points
Romulan = 2000 racial points
Breen = 0 racial points

Natually we would all have to agree to that... But I think it would make it rather interesting as well...

If I get none of those empires then we default to 2k

REMEMBER THIS IS A HEAVY ROLE PLAYING GAME.

SO

DO NOT TRADE RACES SO YOU CAN BREATHE OTHER ATMOSPHERES. SAME WITH TECH TRADING. THEY WILL RUIN THIS GAME.
THE RULE IS.
DO IT ONCE. TURN ROLE BACK TO THE TRADE AND A WRITTEN APPOLOGY BY THE OFFENDING PLAYERS TO THE OTHER PLAYERS.
DO IT TWICE. TURN ROLE BACK TO THE TRADE AND YOUR OUT OF THE GAME.

tesco samoa
November 14th, 2004, 02:05 PM

I think you can set up your empire any way you want within 2k limit as long as you use JUST your races Adv. Trait and perhaps just your races culture. But that is really up to Tesco.

Remember that the mod is more balanced now so 5000 points for one while another only has 0 would be greatly unfair.

This is just my own opinion, but if we're going heavy role play, shouldn't we take the races as-is? That's assuming they are set up in a role-playing manner in the first place; I haven't looked at them so I have no idea. It's not that big a deal, I'm just picking nits.

Actually I'm just trying to get my post count up, because I'm tired of being a corporal. I'm a sergeant, dernit! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

tesco samoa
November 15th, 2004, 09:50 AM
You will be allowed to tweak them. You must take their racial tree and your culture (is there matching culture now ? ). But the rest of the points are yours to spend to enhance your role playing empire.

I was adding the different point system as a fun thing... So we do not know how much points to spend ....

So The 10 core positions are available for the first 10 players.

Anyone else wishes to join up now will play as a minor empire of their choice.

Please pick your empire number now .

I just defaulted to 2k if that is ok. Races will be announced when we agree on the settings. Or when I give up and say... THIS IS IT http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

MAP :

To Be decided. Please send me the map you think the game would be good on...

GAME SETTINGS

EMPIRE SETUP

2000 Points

Each Race must load the 2k empire file for their race.
The following settings must remain.
Enviroment , Culture , Racial Advanced Trait(ie Borg Tech Tree) and the description page ( all of it from description to happiness type)
The rest is for you to adjust.
Each Race is to play as their race does in the ST Universe... Natually of course the game will evolve and races will react to the story.

Role Playing
Use the forum at pbw... or if FYRON wants traffic he can add one at his site for us... As players will want to Role Play we have to strike a balance with what is common knowledge and what known to those parties involved. So when an empire dies they have to write in their view the history of the universe. When the game ends they will post it. As will all the other empires. And we can all see what happened http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Neelix

Personally I think a random system generated by the game would be best so as everyone starts with the same level of information.

I would go for a large quadrant dense system with medium number of warp points, probably WPM Balanced from the list of available maps.

2000 racial points is OK with me as well as long as everyone has the same number to spend so as not to give any one player a huge advantage/disadvantage from the start.

It's a complex procedure in getting someone else to place the players and edit the map with the map editor to give us our home system names. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

The best way for that person to do that is to determine the location and number of starting places required, and then choosing players randomally (i.e. a "hat" lotto) to start in those places.

WOuld it be possible to change the game rules, so each player can freely choose this planet type and atmosphere ? Imho it gets somehow "boring" if many races are resident to rock oxy worlds...
just a thought though.

Atrocities
November 16th, 2004, 01:52 PM
The honest truth is that most ST races are rock oxygen breathers with the notable exception of the methain borg and no atomsphere 8472. Those I think would need to be changed.

The breen are ICE Rock and so are a few others. I really don't recall what they are all set at. I guess I should have checked but when the next patch comes out, hopefully the AI files will be addressed more throughly to reflect each race more directly.

Boring in a way, that almost every race is looking forward to rock oxygen worlds, while others, ice and gas giants become unimportant until different colonizers are ready.
In addition it makes species 8472 (and a few other) quite strong, since there is a big surplus of gas giants or ice worlds, compared to the competition for rock worlds.

Anyways, if everybody is fine with it, so am i. I guess im getting species 8472 anyways http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Personaly, I'm not very delighted with the vanilla start idea. Reason: all 2k empires have Natural Merchants trait. Not the best use of 1000 rp in 2000 rp game. In spite my respect to the RP side of this game, blaming the vanilla empire design through the game is not the best way of having fun http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

What I like about the mod is that is broke stellor manupulation down so that each can be excluded individually while leaving stellor manuplation an active part of the game.

You can turn off Artifical Warp Points and Weapons Of Mass Destruction without effecting monoliths or other technology associated with stellor Manip. For this game I would say kill WMD but leave AWP.

I would also STRONGLY recommend that you turn off Sabotage.

Sabotage allows for really powerful acts of damage while Espionage just allows for information gathering and such.

It has nothing to do with bad luck for you in particular. Nobody gets mods put on PBW in a hurry. It's a process and it takes some time. I know in your case there was a time or two when your requests got misplaced. But that's just a symptom of my own disorganization, and I can assure you it's happened to other people besides yourself. Things should be getting better. I've shown Georgig how to do it (for that matter he does most of them now) and I think Capn'Q and Tesco are in the process of learning as well. That should help speed things up. But even then we all have full time jobs and other things going on.

A recap:

The "first" turn was bad because it was run with STmod 1.9.0.0 - which was no good since that Version had a couple of bugs. So then the issue with 1.9.0.1 came up, and Version 1.9.0.2 was made Last night. Unfortunately, when Tesco re-started the game, it was with 1.9.0.1! So, hopefully, when he gets a chance he can re-start the game again but with 1.9.0.2 and we can get the game going.

Also, Tesco, were you going to fix the object names on the map in our home systems?

"No One Is To Blame" I mean this in a good way. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Thanks Geo. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Why not simply have every one run the turn under 1.9.0.1 and then update for turn two?

The only change in files from 1.9.0.1 to 1.9.0.2 is the components file. I could upload just the components file for both so that those who did update and download it and run the turn then re-update.

I don't know if that would work, but he would have to run the turn off line. How do you update a game? Any ways, I have uploaded both 1901 and 1902 component file to this post just in case.

Don't worry. Tesco just needs to update his mod to 1.9.0.2 and regenerate the next turn. It should take him no time at all.

That is the intent of the mod. Start off slow, research, go faster. Tis the way of Star Trek.

That's fine, I was just making sure I wasn't the only one who couldn't figure out how to build ships correctly http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif As long as we're all slow, no problem.

Be sure to read the information or details for each ship hull. Some can use up to 4 nacelles like Colony ships.

In fact COLONY SHIPS should have four nacelles.

We are down to the tweaking and fine tuning part now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Are we having a bad day? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif At least I did not wake up to an ice storm like Last year.

The link to download the DATA files only is posted in the first post of the Star Trek Mod discussion forum. Any time there is an update that is were the new, and old, links will be.

<font color="red">12-28-2004</font>

Star Trek Mod v1.9.0.9 - PBW Data Files for Update (http://www.astmod.com/zips/stm/STM1909Data.zip)
Star Trek Mod v1.9.0.9 - Full Version (Torrent File) (http://kazharii.no-ip.com:6969/)

And the reason the file is 8.5 megs is because it is a cumlative patch and has a lot of image files.

I included a patch that does not have image files but is seldom downloaded so I do not bother to advertise it outside of the Star Trek Mod thread. And on the Star Trek Mod web site www.astmod.com/startrek/stm.htm (http://www.astmod.com/startrek/stm.htm) on the download page, you will see a link for "STM 1.9.0.7 Only AI &amp; Data Files." Those files are the patch with no images included and is about 1.7 megs.

I hope this info helps.

Tesco - I cannot upload my turn. I downloaded the same turn as everyone else, 26, and that was the turn file I originally uploaded. I downloaded 26 again, and played it. However I cannot upload it now. The site does not want to accept it.

I have emailed my turn file to you.

I treid the turn in the previous Version since the game listed that it was still using verion 1.9.0.2, but the data files did not match. So downloaded and ran the turn again using the 1.9.0.9 files. Same result, the turn ran fine, but PBW did not like it.

Thank you Geoschmo, I have sent the turn to your yahoo account. I wish I knew what I did wrong. BTW, my turns for the other games I am in uploaded perfectly, so it just must be this one game that has the problem. All right-that's it! Ferengi are now on the list too.

Anyway, our singing is not nearly as bad as Vogon Poetry (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/hitchhikers/vogonpoetry/lettergen.shtml)

It's not karma. Are the mods being tested for simultaneous play before being submitted to PBW? If you can run a host turn on your pc you ought to be able to run a host turn on PBW. There's no difference. Unless something is being left out of the mod.

I have a post on the www.astmod.com/startrek/webpage/download.htm (http://www.astmod.com/startrek/webpage/download.htm) page that has a link to download these files.

If these files fail to work, I will redo them. So please let me know.

Ok, working now. Something in the mod we had on PBW wasn't right. Possibly something was missing or different in the PBW Version of the mod that Tesco used. I went to your site and got the full player Version of the mod and the patch to 1909 and it runs now. Uses more space on the server then I like, bue we upgraded HD's a while back so space isn't as much of an issue as it used to be. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
