Over in another game forum, email me for link, a member posted a rant about some issues we are having that when I read it, I nearly fell out of my chair. This has to be one of the funniest rants I have ever read even if it was written in anger.
#1 This is to all you aimbot Users...
If i bust my way into your poorly defended base, i earned the right to make a clean get-away without you hunting me down with your aimbot.
You are a spineless, geek, wanna-be, pathetic waste of human space if you have to use aimbot. Girls think your a loser, guys just want to beat you up..and your own parents are ashamed that you even exist. Lets face it...thats why you use it!
#2 To all you whiners about those who turtle...
HELLO????? Thats what the bases were designed for!! YOU MORONS! If you dont have the smarts to bust thru a well defended base...Why are you playing? Go back to your atari!
HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED CHESS? What do you call 'castling'?
Hear me, and hear me now!!!...you dont want to run into me if you chose to execute the above complaints!!!!
Anyone got a problem with losers like the ones mentioned above..please respond.

Ok well I have a worse rant (not me personally). Its made up but extremely funny, although be warned it is very graphic language. The original doesn't exist anymore because Lucasarts found out about it and set their lawyers on the writer.

Personally, I wonder why people whine about camping. It's a legitimate tactic. Where in the rules does it say I have to run around being a target?

What I say about Camping.
"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms."
-Robert A. Heinlein
And as a General advisory to all players:

Its in paragraph "C" right after the section about why you are legally obligated to block the retreat of teammates under fire.

AT, issues that aren't solved by violence are rarely noticed in history.

Actually, I'm the guy who lines up behind you for those 1-shot 2-kills by the enemy snipers.

My Opinion on Camping/Turtling.
There is only one kind of succesful soldier.
It's the one that lives to a ripe old age. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

My only problem is those other snipers on the other team. Why must the other team have snipers??

Because your team captain was too cheap to hire/train them? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Sniping/camping sucks. Why the ^%#&%# have they invented the digital battlefield, to stop at thr treeline and try to shoot eachother from a distance of 5 kilometers?! NO!!!! Games like UT or Tribes or Quake are ment to run around in and shoot everything that moves. Okay, some sniping is good, why would they make the sniperrifle, but don't make a habit of it.
"If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move kick it, wait for it to move and then shoot it."
Sniping/camping is for lamers. Go sit in a dark alley and try to scare the hell out of some old lady passing by if you really feel the need to do nothing in a game.
You people can sense I'm very much against these kind of things, I really hate people doing this kind of stuff. They ruin a game completely. Damn them all to heaven! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I love sniping. It is a skill that takes a long to master skillfully. In Tribes, and Tribes 2 I was actually sought out to be a team sniper for other teams. It was not that it was a bad thing, it was a good thing because I could find a location and protect my teams flag, defend our base, or go offensive and help our flag runners or pick off the opposing team.
Tribes was a far more enjoyable game to play than is tribes vengeance, as it is an Unreal rip off with jet packs. Tribes was a hell of a lot more fun than Counter Strike and others because of the dynamic game play, team orintation, tools, and game physics. Tribes was truly one of the few and rare games that a person could actually loose themselves in. It was emersive and addictive equal to that of crack and sex. Don't ask me while, it just was.

I used to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and I loved sniping. Didn't always do it and tried the others for variety, I seem to remember my other favourite was being a medic. The Only problem with the sniping was that eventually the opposing snipers shoot you, or all the enemy fill your hidey hole with so much lead you don't stand a chance.
Edit: yeah I know, move after every shot but I always stayed for one more shot and thats when i got it. Anyway try moving and the machine guns will get you.

I just played tribes 1 again for the Last two hours. Man what a fun game that is. I often forget how much fun. We had campers, snipers, flag runners, defenders, rapers, and more. It was a lot of fun to get down and play with a team of NON cheaters and just see how the skill and talent played out. OMG I love this game. I wish they would have never came out with T2 even though T2 was a fun game, it took away from Tribes.
Oh well, at least the guys I just played with were not cheaters. That was a nice twist for a change. My wrist hurts. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif To many years of not playing tribes I guess.

Great Game, Just because it was hilariously cheesy, but it actually scared you at times. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Also you didn't feel bad for killing the bad guy's, And those turret mounted machine guns, the panzerfaust, oh the memories http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Realises he still has this game on his harddrive

I dont play FPS very much but when I do I almost always run a sniper. My point is, I am going to get you while exposing myself as little as possible. For me that is sniping. I still die, from counter-snipers or while moving to a new location - its not complete protection. A well placed sniper can take keep a base from being taken, protect his teammates while retreating, weaken the point of attack for a successful assault. A sniper cannot win the game by him/herself but is an important member of a team.
What truly is worthy of hate is spawn camping. I can sit somewhere and snipe you as you pop or lob gernades to catch you poping, but that is truly not fun and stupid. Why play if you are just going to kill them before they even realize they are back in the game? This is also the most common tactic I have seen in FPS.
<turns back to a much more enjoyable game of SEIV>

Which is why I like TFC, because you tend to get impenatrable spawns. And even if they can get in, you get a big turret that shoots them.

I played FPS for a long time. A quake 2 mod called "dday". It was cool since it could run no hassle on my comp, and had interesting features like truesight, no crosshair, and special units.
I quit for SE:IV since I thought that playing a turn-based e-mail game would be less of a waste of time than FPS.
There is less cheating than you think. In tribes there is a technique where you can move incredibly fast, involving thrusting and jumping or something like that. The more you practised, the faster you got. I did a quick search and it was called "skiing". I only remember playing tribes 1 vaguely, sort of like a dream lol.
