I'm pretty sure the thing causes at least half the error's it reports. And it's just plain spyware. How do you get rid of it?

Further clarification: The error dialog that comes up, asking if you want to send information about what happened to microsoft.

That's the error reporting service. To get rid of it you need to open the control panel, open administrative tools, and open services. Look for "Error Reporting Service" in the list and double-click it. In the new window change startup type to disabled and also stop the currently running one.

Hope that helps!

Narf, check this web site out -- {web page} (http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/service411.htm). It lists several other services in WinXP and what they do. Back in my XP days, I shut down a lot of them, and really sped up my computer during runtime, booting, and connecting to the 'net. You should go slow, justa few changes at a time, as wierd things can happen when you shut down some. Also Win XP is stubborn, and restarts some even if you shut them off, unless you reboot immediately. And do a Google search for more of these sites, there's a lot of info on services out there.
