In my spare time I decided to see if I could improve my Chillian shipset. Using techniques learned from component creation I created this first ship. Since I am still very busy making components it may be some time before I can create a complete set. But I must start somewhere.

What are you using to make them?

I am using Rhino 3D to model them and I render using the Flamingo Raytrace plugin.

Sure there are guns. you can't see them because they are inside the little wing compartments. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

It took me a while, but I finally got around to making another model. This time it is a troop. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

At the risk of being boring, I think i'll just repeat what I said in an earlier post..

Just a bit of nitpicking (I'm the eternal critic http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif but it's just for improvement eh)

The troop feels less in place, the fighter and the cruiser both have those blue notches on their wings and the blue paint on their wings, maybe you could try and implement that into the troop, I dont know how feasable this is tho.
I'm no modeller, but right now, you can see that the ship and fighter are from the same race, whereas the troop it is less visible.

You might be able to see what it gives if you place ehm rims on the wheels which are the same form as the paint on the wings.

This is just my opinion eh, feel free to ignore it.

Why do they have to look so similar? Do American tanks look just like American battleships? No, not in the slightest. Personally, I find it boring when everything matches perfectly...

I used the exact same materials set to make the troop as I did for the fighter and starship. The inner circles of the wheels and the 2 sections on either side of the cockpit are the very same blue used in the other models. Perhaps when seen with the satellite, mine, and drone it will look more in line with the rest of the set.

Time permitting I may experiment with some textures for this one.

I see they finally decided to use real weapons instead of crappy music from a concert. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

LOL! Took me a minute to get it. Good one Fyron. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Dont expect the set soon. I am making it in my sparest of spare time. The 4 models shown are all I have done. This will take a while.
