Hey everyone,
question: Im playing a pbw game and im low on ressources. I decided to scrap an expensive facilites, which would have given me enough ressources to that every construction queue should have been done.
Next turn i check my income and guess what !? The facility had indeed been scrapped, but i didnt received the ressources, in fact i got a lot of "lack of ressources" Messages.
I had enough storage, so that cant be the problem.
This turn i scrapped another facility, im wondering what will happen the next turn...
any thoughts on this ?
p.s. it was a homeworld faciliy and should have given 300k of each ressource.

When you scrap a facility in a simultaneous turn game you get the resources at the instant you scrap it. It doesn't wait till the turn ends.

I've had the same problem in the simultaneous game. Unfortunately my solution has been not to rely on scrapping to pay for retrofitting and building.

Oh WOW!!! I've never seen this reported before. This is an obvious bug but apparently it's just never been reported or fixed. I've always done the scrap facility thing in PBW games when resources were short, and never noticed that the recources were disappearing when the turn proccesed. I had noticed at times I would still have shortages when I thought I had taken care of the problem by scrapping things, but had always figured that something else was happening like a drop in empire happiness reducing the incomming resources. But now that I think about it, that makes no sense cause were talkign about resources in storage, not an incomming resource thing.
Bummer. Wish I had noticed this back when we were getting patches for Se4.

Ok, after doing a little testing, there is a way to scrap facilities and get the resources. You have to give the planet the "abandon" order and click yes when it asks if you want to scrap all faciliites before abandoning. Obviuosly this isnt' an ideal solution as you lose the planet when you might just have a temporary resourse shortage. And you can't selectivly scrap only certain facilities, it's all or nothing. Also, the planet has to be below 50M population for the abandon order to work. But if you are desperate and have some spare planets it will work.
Also, scrapping ships works fine in simultaneous turn game.

lol so i found a bug did i.
Damn it. I dont want to abandon my homeworld with 10 of those 300k facilites (not mentioning 12 billion people)
This majorly sucks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

This is really bad for me in one PBW game I'm playing. I just scrapped a bunch of facilities to cover some shortages. I guess the program will just abandon more of my ships. Oh well, all was lost anyway... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I decided to verify this problem in "Another Sweet Game" during my Last turn. I scrapped some facilities Last night. Imagine my surprise when the value of the facilities immediately was added to my stored amount. Since the facilities were atmosphere modification plants, I got 4500 of each resource for each one scrapped.
Perhaps the bug is just related to specific mods...

It is how it is supposed to work (you get the resources at once). I believe the bug is that these resources disappear; at least, that was the impression I got from reading Geo's Posts.
I couldn't say whether it works or not, since I only used massive scrapping once. And given my problems with algebra, I wouldn't know if I had too many "Lack of resources" Messages or not (all I know is how that hurts).

That is correct Greybeard, you will see the resources added to your stored ammount immedietly. But what you won't see unless youa re paying attention and do the math is that once the turn processes those resources will be subtracted back out of your total stored amount. That's the bug. The resources added to your total on the client end are not making it through the host turn processing. That's also why scrapping facilities by abandoning the planet works. because there the scrapping is happening during the host processing, all you are doing on the client end is queueing an order to scrap.
