I really do not know what to say SJ. Um, its a very unique and artful set with a certain flare for the colorful aspect of the imagination. I can see that you put a lot of work into it and it permates attention to detail in a way that I have not seen before. Congradulations on this set and the fine art work.

Here is a preview page for those that just want to peek at it without downloading.

Though I can't make any claim to uniqueness or art design (those are Howard Tayler, not me), thanks.
I plan to tweak some of the images a bit more still. A couple of the ships are from early on in the comic strip and could use some touch ups to match the later ones.

Cool shipset! I like the childish style, especially the mines pic.

Cool shipset, but why is the frigate and escort coloured differently from the rest?

Great shipset.
One question, though: did you get the artist's permission?
One minor comment on genra: Medium troop, small fighter, and battlecruiser are the wrong species (Ob'enn, rather than human) (although the comic has shown that most Ob'enn equipment is readily adaptable to human use).

Oh man, this shipset is worth downloading just for the fun of running some combat simulations and watching the ships blow up. BOOM! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hooray! A Schlock set at Last! Fantastic stuff S_J. I agree with Jack though, You should take those O'Benn images out so that they can be used in a full psychobear shipset. *hint hint*
Also you should definitely let Howard know that his ships have been immortalised in se4 glory!
BTW, have you done the AI_speech file for this race? You could have hours (and hours and hours) of fun with that. I mean just quoting the seven effective habits would probably cover half the possible situations, while declarations of war/ threats of attack etc could be covered by nothing more than "Ominous hummm..."
Anyone who has no idea what I'm talking about/ what this shipset is taken from , go read www.schlockmercenary.com (http://www.schlockmercenary.com) NOW! Start at the first episode and work your way forwards. You'll be glad you did.
*dogscoff takes a Strohm BH-250 out of his mouth and polishes it lovingly, while making more casual and not-at-all-threatening suggestions to S_J about a psychobear shipset. (It would be worth it just for the designname file: "Sceptre of Unrelenting Pain" etc)

Yes. I had the set done like this since mid november-ish, and Howard just got back to me.

Yeah, I know I've got a mix of UNS and Ob'enn equipment, but they do mix well and there aren't quite enough strictly-UNS designs to fill out the whole set.
Perhaps with the coming war against the Psychobears, we'll collect enough for two full sets.
-----
The escort and frigate are small and civilian enough to bother with paint jobs, I suppose. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
The big ships are mostly annie plant and warship armor.
-----
I haven't done any AI files yet, but the 7 habits in the speech file was on the top of my list http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hiliarious. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
I doubt anyone will use it in a game, but it was definitively worth the look.

Why wouldn't someone use it in a game? We all have some degree of humour. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Whoa, hold on a minute.
What's up with the small pic for fighters?
Are those 3 fighters in there?
That's genious!
Does it mean that in tactical battles or in strategy movement you see 3 fighters moving together?
I want that for the EDF shipset!!!!!!!

It doesn't match with the style of the other shipsets.
I guess you were one of those kids that played with missmatching pLastic soldiers. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

That's odd. I thought it was the regular way to do it for some reason.
I must have picked that up while thinking about the SE3 mod.
And, yes, you'll see little mini-squads flying around.

Didi mau, did mau, depnjer, depnjer!
I hope I wrote the sentence above correct, my Korean isn't what it used to be.
Translated it says:
Grenade in hole, grenade in hole, get out, get out!
Huh. I always thought Didi mau was Vietnamese. Learn something new everyday.

Why was it a bad joke? Please enlighten me. If I offended you, please say so. I didn't mean it that way. I mean it purely as a funny remark.

I'd use it in a game, definitely. I love the comic and I love the set.
OK S_J, next on your to-do list (after the psychobear set, of course) is a "Tagon's Toughs" scenario/mod, where the player starts with nothing but a single self-sufficient O'Benn Taussegenian Thunderhead Superfortress (with fabber and warp-opener), a few units of infantry, some mini-tanks and a troop transport. The rest of the map is occupied by established, well-teched, well-armed and mostly unfriendly AIs. Your mission is to take over the entire quadrant and build up the fleet necessary to finally destroy the gatekeepers' Buuthandi, or at the very least to share your portion of blam around the galaxy as evenly as possible (all for the right price, of course).

Hahaha... your portion of blam. That really sounds cool.
*Dear diary, today I added a new exciting sentence to my vocabulary.*

Of course there should certainly be some other AI's like Prangers Bangers and the Partnership Collective! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif And of course We need a Starfury Mod Version in which you get extra points for following "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Pirates."

If you like that you should definitely go read the comic. Use this URL: http://www.schlockmercenary.com/d/20000612.html to get to the very first episode. I re-read the entire back catalogue quite recently, and it only took me a few days. Trust me, it's good good good good good.
