I agree, the ones on the right.

I dunno, there seems to be more texturing on the ones on the left, so I'd say those instead...

Ones on the left look more dangerous, ones on the right look sleeker.

Nodachi

I'd say that the textures are the same but the renderings on the left are a touch too sharp.

The ones on the right, ya, the ones on the right, ya the ones right ones, ya. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif A little Rainman impersonation for you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I like the left Light Cruiser but the right for everything else.

I'd go with a 60/40 mix of left and right. The detail is good, and a happy medium glow would be good, and avoid the glare off of the battleship's lower deck.

They are the same ships, just rendered at differant resolutions and the textures are set to no reflection.

my humble opinion is that the ones on the left have a tad too much glare (reflection) and it gives the models a bit of a pLastic feel. The ones on the right have no glare (reflection) and for some reason make me think of a rubber type texture. So, I'd say the model needs the glare (reflection) but perhaps not as strong as the current left samples.

Aside from that, these ships look great.

Ok fine, by popular demand...

My first impression was the left ones, however they are a tad too shiny. The right ones are more like natural light in space. Will there be Gamillon and Comet empire?. Will SE5 have reflex guns? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

No commet empire though.

I am just messing around with old images as I mess around.

Cell shading for a true cartoon set!

I would have to agree with David, though I will add that parts of the ships on the right look hidden in the shadows.

The angle is differant that is all. The ships are the same. I just wanted to know what they would look like if they were rendered differantly. They looked differant enough that I need outside input. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Thanks guys.

Well, needing outside input is much better than needing to be put outside. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif (It's Christmas and I'm always goofy on Christmas.)

BTW, Merry Christmas Everyone, and Narf too http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif (see Goofy is me, I be goofy today!)

AT: I prfer the newly rendered right images. They may not have the same level of detail, but i gladly sacrifice that for better image quality. The latest ones IMHO look much clearer and visually pleasing.

Have a Merry Christmas Atrocities, Thanks for all the work you put into this Community.

I agree exactly with Kamog. I like the ones on the right, except for the light cruiser.

AT, what are you using to produce your renders(assuming that it isn't DOGA)?

Atrocities
December 26th, 2004, 09:20 PM
DOGA. Tis always DOGA. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Not that DOGA is a bad tool, it really is a great tool.

Nodachi

OK, I was just wondering if you were using a separate program.

I don't knock DOGA. I'm a firm beleiver that it's the result that counts and your results have been amazing!

What I would like to do is export my models, or convert them for use with other program and then see about lowering the polygon counts. Then render them and or export them to X format for use with SE V.

Ideally of course.

Have you considered Deep Exploration from Right Hemisphere?

1 left - dont light the brown thing on the right
2 right - like the yellow in the bridge area better - light would illuminate forth not be so muted as the left
3 left - really close but left seems to have better defination, and right is rubbery as mentioned above.
4 right - darker.. dreads should be darker.

All subjective though. They are both better then I could ever do.

Thanks,

The ships on the left are the exsisting set. The ones on the right are the same ships, same models, but rendered at a higher resolution and without the glare effect.

Just so everyone knows. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
