View Full Version : New Ship Set: ST Fed TMP Era
Atrocities
January 11th, 2005, 05:58 AM
The set is currently under development in conjunction with the Federation STNG era.
Take a look at the ships I have completed thus far and please let me know what you think.
Also keep in mind that DOGA is very limited in what it can do as far as rounded edges go. I did the best I could and aside from some minor tweaking, this set is what it is.
So please do not email me with hate mail about the ships not being cannon. Ok thanks, and enjoy.

Woohoo! Nice ships! I like this set the best from all the Star Trek set thus far. Well, maybe the Borg score a bit higher. But that has to do with the character of the Borg... or the lack of it...
Great set, keep it going!

Thanks Timestone. I have had a lot of fun with this set. All of those ships, with the exception of the Enterprise A (Battle Cruiser) I have made since 10 pm tonight.
I do not like the carriers, either for the TMP or the STNG, so I will most likely do some more work on those.
The bases are going to be interesting. I have to do 5 of them.
Fighters will be shuttles and runnabouts. Transports, oh boy. I guess I will have to rely upon the Star Ship Schematic data base for those. (A great site).

I like them. A good take-off on star trek ships, without copying.

Could you post the link to that site please?
Last year november I bought a book about the ships of Star Trek, I can't recall it's name, but I was a little dissapointed. Nothing in the sense of real measurements I could use for the building of 3D models. Maybe the site can help me with some minor problems.

Tis a great site.

Funny thing is, I did not use the site for what I made. I used some of the old SFC ships I have models for. I used the model viewer to help me make finer detail adjustments, but mostly the ships were made from memorie. I was pleased that I only had to make a few minor changes. Then I remembered the http://www.shipschematics.net/ site. It will be helpful in making transports and fixing the carriers I hope.

This will be another good one! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
AT you said you didn't care for the carriers but I like what you've done with them, especially the Massive.

Absolutely gobsmacking. Great work aT, and that starship schematics place is cool.. (most of the stuff I recognise as from the "Star Trek Technical Manual" Which I have an original copy of. (I also have the ST Concordance with the spinwheel thing in the cover.) Great books.
Keep up the fantastic work, you must be having lots of fun.
Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Verily nice! Purdy!
Though I must say, people emailing you "hate mail" is really REALLY pathetic, especially considering the fact that they probably wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of doing anything remotely as purdy.

I must say, I am quite disappointed; I don't see a mega phaser cannon in those baseships anywhere, and they all have too few nacelles; I mean, they should all aspire to look like this:

Jokes aside, not only do they look good, they look authentic; especially the constellation and the constitution classes. I'd love to see a wallpaper with those ships facing down a klingon bird of prey.

I took a shot at it. Click the Attachment to view.
I will make more if this one is liked. Remember I had to do some cheating to get the models too look right so if a ship is a bit off, please accept my apologies.

I am having a look at those SEP (Sovereign Empire of Planets. What I previously referred to as Terran Empire) ships, and I must say they look much better than the weak UFP ships, especially the Galaxy conquering and inter-universe classes. Now I'm not making a definite statement, but someday I may well have to make my own set.
Edit: I should clarify that I am referring to the schematics site.

Maybe you can get some ideas from the SFB universe...I can see what I can find for you to look at if you are interested or I can send you some .mod files of some carriers from SFB universe for SFC2.

I have many models from those games, but if you could point me in the direction to get more I would be thankful.

Thanks. I should have this set wrapped soon. I will begin working on the STNG set once I am done. Should be interesting to how it comes out.
I will make a bunch of extra ships for both sets to be used for such mods as Adamant. No promeses, but I will try and include as many extra ships as I can.

No problem...I might want to use some of your images/shipsets for the SFB mod if I like them...but that is way down the road...and of course that will all change when SEV comes out...
Also give me some feedback or what not on the sites...I'm interested in what you liked or didnt' like...also if you find any I didn't have listed I'm might want to see them as well..

A couple of years back the sites were more indepth with a lot more ships for SFC. I have about 50 models or so for that game and that was what I used as a source, after the fact, to find tune the sets I just posted in another thread.
I have to say, making the Federation trio sets was a lot of fun. I honestly did not think I could do it, but voila, I did and depsite the ackwardness of the models and the limitiations of DOGA, I did it with some degree of style. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
