I have been wanting to try ship set design for a long time and finally got to doing it. This is the frist ship I have tried putting together.. its not textured or sized yet but I wanted to see if I was even going about it correctly.. its done in DoGA.
Thanks for all the feedback.

Looks good, be sure to play around with the lighting, however.

Interesting; I think it would look a lot better if it had better lighting, though.

It's quite good, especially as a first effort. Perhaps I should have a go if DOGA isn't as hard as I thought.

Do you have a Broad Band connnection? If so look for me on line msn - pcpatrocities AT hotmail DOT com or yahoo - pcpatrocities AT yahoo DOT com. I use Messinger most of the time, but I run Trillan as well. I will send you some DOGA files and Examples that might help you learn more about the program.

Cool thanks... Yes I do... I will login from home and look for you.
Thanks for the feedback... I still need to learn a bit (lot) about the lighting aspect so I will definately work on it some more.
Thank you,

The ship looks good! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif The front triangular part of the ship appears to be kind of flat-looking and two dimensional, maybe some more depth could be added to it? The rest of the ship is great... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
The picture loaded in my browser from the bottom and then upwards! Never seen that before. Pictures usually load from top down...

I wondered if I should change the front somehow... wasnt quite right but couldnt put my finger on it.... I will try your suggestion and see how it turns out.

That's what I was going to add...the front looks too much like a 2D triangle. I think it needs a bit more "3D" to it and, perhaps, break up the 2 straight lines that form that triangular look. The rest looks fine, though! Good first effort!

For the most part, it looks just dandy!
The triangle part in the front makes it look like a weapon itself. If that's what you're going for, nifty, but I think it takes away from the "ship" idea.

I am re-working it now... I finished one alternative Last night and hope to work on another alternative tonight... I will see which I like best and post them for comment here.

Select that triangle from the side-view and drag the vertical blue box upward. That will "fatten" it on the z-axis. Then you'd have a surface on the front where you could insert a gazzillion forward cannons!
Weeeeeeeeeeeee! Doga is fun!
Happily,

Came up with two variants and going to post them.. then I think I am going to learn how to texture stuff before I put these back up. I like the first one the best. What do you think?

Quite an improvement, Rasorow. Removing the dark grey from the center really makes the "bridge" look like it is not hanging in space. Although that would be neat too.
