I'm trying to Mod the QuadrantTypes and SystemTypes files. I want to use some boolean logic in this test file. Can I?
I don't want to use the "any" option, I want to specify like (Yellow or Orange) or (small or medium) to make random picks from a smaller list. I'm not sure this can be done. Any comments / suggestions?

You can only use values specified in the file headers. There is no support for boolean logic. The only thing that can be done is having a lot of different static entries.

Also, as you go, be sure to check the balance of your systems and quadrants with my Map Analyser

With this you can test to make sure that all of the surface/atmosphere race combinations will be represented fairly.

Hi, welcome to the forum. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
SEV will have math in at least certain text files.

Thats what I thought Imperator Fyron. I'll figure out a workaround. Nice to know SEV will have some math capabilities. Nice for replayability and realism nuts like me.
I got the map analyser in the same folder as my work although I've not used it yet as I was just experimenting with those files for now. (I'll get there shortly) I'm still re-writing the SectType along with the BMP images. There's plenty of source material on the web and linked to various 3D starmap websites to give the planets.bmp and the p0XXX-series a serious rework. I have also found a freeware program (CHview) that takes the Hipparcos satellite star survay data and creates a 3d star map out to about 250 light yrs. It also allows scalable gridding so that I can import the sceen images into my paintshop program, use the negative image tool then print out a perfect map to use as reference in the SEIV map editor, already scaled to the grids correctly. Works neat...

Don't forget to submit those new graphics for inclusion in the imagemod planet pack http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
