OMG!!! (writhing on ground) Why do people really want to dress up? Most of them don't even do justice to the characters. Whatever. That's why I don't go to these silly conventions.

Oh come on guys. What is the one thing all of, or most of those poor saps have in common?
1. None of them play SE IV.
2. Most of them are out of shape and in dyer need of personal grumming.
3. They all remind us of oursleves in some sick and very sad way.
4. At least they know how to have a good time and are willing to allow their pictures to be taken in order to give us a good laugh.
And face it:
1. We all KNOW at least one person who has dressed up and gone to a convention. Oh come one and admit it, you do.
2. We have all secretly wished that we were Darth Vader getting a BJ from some hotty. (Not some dude)
3. Aside from causing IDS, if you were drunk enough..... Ew
4. Secretly we all wanted to spend the night with Princess Lea when were were 12.
5. We all have a Stormtrooper costum in the closet, that is if Mom hasn't thown it away by now. BRB "MOTHER!"
6. Our manhood is assured, while theirs is limited to fat chicks in ugly purple costums. Just say NO!
Seriously, most of those people have probably spent most of their lives being teased and or shunned by society and their peers that for them dressing up and pretending, ok believing that they are from the star wars universe gives them a sense of purpose. They like the attention they get from the other freaks - oops, costume wearing individuals that they want to do it more and more. So they drive around their states attending conventions where they can be with people like them. People who share their interests and hobbies. And frankly the people who go to these conventions and then later make fun of the folks there are lower than targ [censored] as far as I am concerned. Who the f*** are they to make fun of those poor bastards? To be honest, I really feel ashamed of myself for laughing at those photos. Ok, they were funny , I will give you that, but those folks have been laughed at all there lives, and to be frank about it, who the hell are we to laugh at them when they are having a good time doing what they enjoy doing?
Call me a killjoy, but making fun of mentally ill or people with low self astem doesn't give me pleasure, and I really wish *******s like the guy who posted that page and those who do this king of thing regularly would grow the f*** up and stop acting like GD 1st graders.

Its ok to laugh, when it is meant in a kind and fun way, but laughing at those folks to be mean and what not, well that made me think. God knows that I would never dress up and go to a convention, but I have attened conventions before, both personally as well as professionally. (On the job)
I have met a lot of very nice people there, some f***ed up folks too, but mostly nice sci-fi loving foke who just want to have a good time with other sci-fi loving people.
I thought for a bit until I saw a an image of a guy who looked a lot like I did at 19 and well that made me think that I would not like to have my picture put on the internet for having attended a convention, and be made fun of. Sure it would be funny and all, but it would also hurt, and I do not, despite my nick name, want to hurt people.
I mean if it was in good clean fun and we could all take harmless pleasure in it, then ya, its some funny stuff, but when it gets personal, well thats when I say some growing up needs to be done. And not by those wearing the poorly made costumes.
I am off the soap box now guys, so go back to having fun. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I feel alright making comments because I was with a group that all went dressed up and I couldn't because I couldn't afford a costume at the time. So I'm even worse because I LAMENTED having to go dressed normal. Hehe I stood out. Then again, we didn't know the debacle Episode One was going to be. After that turd I felt okay being dressed normally.
I gotta say, though. "Hot" people have their own idiotic rituals and rites. They're called shallowness, hard drugs, alcoholism, vapidity, plastic surgery and selfishness. I live in Los Angeles and I see it DAILY. I work at a top talent agency. I haven't had a good, real conversation with someone there and I've been there almost 2 years. They're just not real. They try to be what they aren't. At least Star Wars geeks be what they are (creative) when they dress up to be what they aren't (Jedi or Carrie Fisher).
And for the record:
I STILL dream about Leia in Jabba's gear. Why do I need to be 12 to admire that scantily clad goodness?
Starhawk

Here here Leia in that gold bikini mmmmmmmmmm doesn't matter whether you be 12 or 18 or older http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Yeah most of the girls I know that would fall into the HOT catagory or at least really really good looking are actually Anime watching, Star Wars loving geeks like me so I've never had the problem with the "fake" hot girls that you have but your perspective certainly makes me appreciate the girls I do know a lot more because of the fact that they are pretty but still down to earth and real.
AT you did make a good point, at least those people know how to have fun and enjoy themselves unlike so many other people, and hey most of those folks are actually the type I could get along with most likely.
Though you have to admit that fat people should NEVEr be in bright red or bright shiney purple outfits, EVER! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

My buddy made an incredible Jedi outfit for the premier. I mean, he had a seamstress work it and everything. A flawless design. And he F****D it up by wearing rubber boots. I mean, dude. All that work and you fart it away by not at least investing in rental boots or something. Seriously. He wore the boots he'd shovel snow in.
Some of those costumes are great. Some, not so much.
All's I'm saying is that there are great people in the world with awful terrible fashion sense. I, of course, have impeccable fashion sense.

hehe yes I had to be trained before I could claim to dress well. Women like that whole make-over thing, and believe it or not it also assists in getting THEM undressed.
Let that be my lesson to you all for the day. Let a woman make you over and you will reap the rewards.
