View Full Version : SEV news????

Captain Slick fires a probe in DEG's direction.

Lost in thought, Captain Slick slumps down into the chair at the science station and scans the incoming telemetry. He wonders about why there has been no recent news about SEV. The last pic was posted over a month ago and the craving in the masses is beginning to reach serious levels. Hoping that the probe will send back a SEV screenshot or something, he waits patiently...

Hey, When a verbose guy like myself goes quiet, you gotta know that there is a lot happening. If this were a movie I'd just say that we designed and built some new sets and the actors arrive next week. We are currently taking care of some last minute set decorations and of course making sure the food buffet is full for when the actors arrive.

..but this isn't a movie and the only actors are 3d models, but seriously, the past few weeks have been and still are very busy for Aaron and I. Perhaps by next week we will make an effort to peek outside and let you know more about what interesting stuff is happening.

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Translation: He's made enough background images for five games, has eight different UI concepts finished, and more models than anyone would like to think about. Now Aaron is trying out everything, seeing what looks best. Then starts the process of making game engine fit in the interface, and the long period of testing to perfection.

DEG... why haven't we seen you on the SEV Wish List Thread in the last coupla weeks? (Perhaps since the beginning even...) It would be good if you gave us some feedback every now and then, keep us up-to-date.

I do scan the thread and lurk in there every other day. The problem is I'm not the genie that grants wishes. I do however give the genie the heads up when there is an interesting idea posted. Another problem is my idea of an interesting idea might not be what anyone else's idea of an interesting idea is. Also, the many times I spurred Aaron to have a chat session at #spaceempires I was often motivated by the discussions in that thread.

Speaking of which, I'll try and get Aaron to do another chat session soon, perhaps in a couple weeks. Right now we are busy little bees.

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Well...Perhaps because if he has an idea, he can just e-mail Aaron? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I know, but to keep US up-to-date? (Or just to say what HE thinks about a suggestion)

There is that. There is also a NDA, or I suppose we would be getting more information. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Yes Narf, there is most likely an NDA in effect. Any one who is connected with the project has most likely signed one by now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I am not connected with the project but if I know anything, I am keeping it to myself because its not my place to say things. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Besides I know nothing and even less than many of you know. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

7, maybe 8. Heck, 9 has been out long enough for him to learn it.

I really liked the SE4 sergetti set myself.

As did I. However, they had many curves, so the old models probably had way too many polygons to serve as the Sergetti in SEV.

I personally didn't like the SEIV Sergetti ships that much - I like this better. I usually do not like rockish-looking ships like the Sergetti, I like more sci-fi-ship-like ships better, like the Xiati, Jraenar, Xi'Chung, that organic manipulation race with the green ships (I've forgot their name), etc.
