Well the Neo-Icaran shipset is a redo on my Imperial Icaran and then Rebel Icaran shipsets, the pre-battlecruiser hulls are proving very challenging but I did get a completed battlecruiser model finished.
Please tell me what you think http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Too dark. It blends into the background too well. Could be easy to not notice such a ship in game.

Well the ship's hull is supposed to look squareish though I may edit some of that out, though it is supposed to be remeniscant of a wet navy warship.
The backend though is an engine pod so it has to be square http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I like the black and red, but its a bit featureless. Don't get me wrong its a nice design and it defenitely looks wet navy, just a bit light on bits other than guns. A couple of radars/sensor gride, maybe a bigger bridge and a couple of light guns on the top side (PD maybe?) something like that.
Still I wouldn't mind a couple of those in my fleet, nothing like a giant turret o' doom swivelling round to scare someone http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Dude... it looks like a COMC more than a battlecruiser! Looks excellent! Tho, you could add a few very big guns on top - look at some pics of the KMS Bismarck for inspiration. Make it look like you could stuff an Escort or two up the barrels.
Also, you could adorn it with symbols - like the Bismarck had two massive swastika's on its front and aft decks, you could maybe place the Neo-Icaran emblem on the front and aft. Could also add more symbols, perhaps not with that much meaning at all, but just for aesthetic interests. You could also add a serial number up front - like NI-BC-T5-23 or something shorter (translation: Neo-Icaran Battlecruiser Type-3 Number 23). Really think you should add that, especially if you're going for the wet navy look.

COMC? Sorry I'm not familiar with that term?
Hmm I never considered placing the Icaran Imperial symbol on her before, but I suppose that's a great idea there, same with the registry number.
Oh and they are just a retouch of the Imperial Navy it's the same old Icaran Empire, I just figured the title would sound better then just "Hey look I remade the Icarans" lol.

Command Cruiser. 20MT ship. The second largest ship of the Capship Mod.
Oh, and I'm sorry, but I believe I've heard of the Icarans before, but I never saw them. I'm just making suggestions based - mainly - on the Bismarck, Empire Earth and Dicovery Channel.

Erm... SH, could you maybe provide me with a component pic of those big "14-inch" guns on top? None of the pics so far seem to have the correct angle for creating a comp pic.

Funny Imperator I can see the sides on my comp? I guess I'll work on finding a new hull color though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif if the rest of you guys are having issues finding the ships.
But I'm NOT going to make them a bright shiney silvery color as that would ruin the "mood" of the starships themselves http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Maybe you two (Fyron and Kwok) should look how high your screen brightness is... perhaps the cat accidentally activated the OSD and toned down the brightness slightly, and has been having that same accident several times.

Hehe actually I am brightening the ships a little, the Imperials are a light grey and the Rebs will be a green/gold combo http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
It's to bad I can't make an animation of a starship being constructed, that would be SWEET! I'd call it "Birth of a Death God" lol.

My screen is quite bright... Not to mention that I have no cat, and the control "button" on my monitor is not one that a cat could possibly affect...

You could divide a ship into sections, and animate them being placed together inside a shipyard...
Starhawk
February 21st, 2005, 05:15 PM
Unfortunately you have to pay for Doga to get that option, or else I realy would make a ship building movie http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

You could do it w/out buying DOGA, but it would be a real PITA...
Like in an animated gif: create the sequence picture by picture. Real PITA, but possibly with beautiful effects.

Hmmm possible Idea.
Well anyway ladies and gentlemen the queen of the stars, the Lord Nelson class dreadnought.
Note; The duel barrel gun turrets are each the size of Battlecruiser main guns.
2. The dreadnought model is actually several times larger then the BC model.

Reinforced armored bulkhead which protects foward firing sensors and reactor room 1.
Hmm I may make a picture in the near future explaining all the sections of my ships http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

You know, as much as I like what your doing, if you made a few of the parts yourself and relied less on the pre-made parts, you will obtain a unique look and feel to your designs that will set them apart and might even amaze you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Also a flat finish is far more preferable to that one you currently have. Do a search for METAL textures and such and you will find one that you like. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Oh. Well, I hate to say it, but it looks kinda like a lego piece that was stuck on. Maybe give it a rougher, more metalic texture?
Starhawk
February 22nd, 2005, 01:50 PM
AT: Actually everything but the bridge and turret housings I made myself, the hull is actually composed of roughly eight seperate peices that give it the angular naval look that I was going for.
The engine blocks I admit are also premade but that's mainly because it was the exact same look I was going to make anyway so I just got lucky that they had the engine section like that.
Hmmm as for the flat, finish where could I look for metal textures? just google it or are there other Doga support places?

Well here is a retextured Dreadnought, please tell me what you think.

It does look less like lego; unfortunatly, it also is hard to see.
The demo for this http://texturemaker.thegamecreators.com/ can create small (384x384, I think) free textures.

Hard to see? What are you looking at, it's bright almost silver http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
Well maybe I just made a closer shot so take a look, that other one is pretty small.....but DARK jeez it's supposed to be menacing not star trek bright oy.
