I am modding your mod http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif. and i came into a problem the ships that you have are not enough :-d so i added alot for all the feds depending what age they are but... i am confuzed how to add them to a certain race.
like i seperated ship sets so for... for all the feds to have 12 different size ships (not colony and that). But how should i add them so only the certain race will have the certain file. like i give the tmp a "frigate" first time when you research ship construction(the tmp frigate is 220) and if i wanna give the main one a "frigate" with 240kt.
how do i do that different family unique shipset or what? I read the mod guide but i could not find this in it. I was wondering how you did it. And how would do the nacelles work>?:-d (dun have game yet friday) Is there a way to make a requirment of them and other stuff like supply or drone bays?

Oh and is there a way to make like a sattelite have like 3k tonnage but that of course would not fit into a ship so is there a way to represent "templayer storage":-d. So like the sattelite is 50kt but actually it has like 3k worth of tonnage.

You already tried giving the satellite computer core a negative tonnage size, I assume? (AFAIK that doesn't work, but I haven't tested it since maybe SE4 v1.31 when I wanted to add Battle Pods like in MOO2 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

Add mounts for sats that reduce the size of components. Volia! You can have small sats!

All you need to do is add a racial tech req to the ships that you want only the Federation to have. They should already have a tech req for this purpose, so just use it. This prodedure is identical to all other racial techs (organic armor, crystalline torpedoes, etc.).

I am sorry, but I don't fully understand what it is your asking me.
If you just want to add more federation ships, then do so. In the vehicle Size file scroll down until you find the Federation ships. Copy any of the entries and then modify them as you see fit and place them any where you want.
They must have the Federation Ship Construction as a requirement in order to keep them sole as Federation ships.
If you want more images, then I will email the new Federation Ship Set (http://www.astmod.com/startrek/Pictures/Races/nstng/Federation.htm) to you. It is neo-standard.
As for the Satellites, use a mount to reduce the size. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Sweet thanks....ja question is confuzing but i got it now, but it led to another one:-d.
I want to create multiple pictures for the same size of ship. So like a cruiser for one race you can choose two different ships. (so like a defiant and um a galaxy) do you have to create two different ship sets or what exactly? thanks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif

You need two separate ship hulls, one that uses image A and one that uses image B. No need for multiple shipsets.

This is the best method for doing it. Simply create two ship hull sizes in the Vechicle Size file, and use differant images.

What is EMP file extension how to read those? like when you go to empires the files are emp.

Load them with SE4.
Basically, they are saved race settings.
On the game setup screen, click the "add existing race" button, and select the EMP file.
Handy if you use the same race settings all the time, and used when players need to send their data in to a multiplayer game host without revealing their secret settings.

EMP is short for Empire. So EMP file is really just a saved Empire File as Suicide Junkie has stated. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I tried reading the Moding Tut and didn't see how to do this. Maybe I am dense. Could you or someone else give more detail?

It is going well. I have ships ready to add with stats for them, weapons changed, compenents changed. The problem is how to add some stuff i want because it is hard to think how to add without having the game.
If you want i'll give you a copy:-d. But it will take a while because now i have physical therapy more often and stuff like that:-(.
