I was going through some old archives and found backup copies of some old website that some of you might find familiar:

Here's the old Oceania Empire website.
It's old,but there's still a lot of stuff like pictures and the empire's history, news about the league war between the League of Empires and the Chaos Contingency, pictures and other stuff.

Here's the League of Empires site that was up for a little while. As with most of my sites, it was perpetually under construction.

Here's Hadrian's League of Empires site that preceeded mine. It's got some nifty graphics he did in POVray and chock full of psudoserious detail.

Here's Warlords 3000, a site thet Hadrian made to compete with the Space Empires Ladder. I remember it had quite a few members. I have no idea how he came up with the name.

Here's the Great Attractor, a Space Empires community news site I was working on that never got published.

Ah Hadrian. I miss him, but he did take paranoia to whole new and interesting levels. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Hey, the first link doesn't work, mind just sending it to me directly? AaronHSteffen@msn.com

Hadrian is still around, just have to know where to look.

I love going through old SE websites, somebody needs to create an archive site with tons of old websites, that would be so cool.

I was just updating it. You were probably trying to download while I was re-uploading the attachment.

Hadrian had a lot of good ideas, but he took things a little too seriously.

Yah, he had a habbit of doing that sometimes.

Oh I know the person behind the Hadrian personna still exsists, still visits here from time to time and may even post under a different identity. But it's just not the same. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Oh, and the link still won't download, you might want to repost it.

Yeah, I remember when he took offence to an artwork of one of my Spoogy Federation cruisers attacking his Pacean ships or something. It was just for fun, but he panned my website in his review! /threads/images/Graemlins/Cold.gif

He made nice ships though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I don't date back to SE3 days, but I did have the Spoogy Federation site up and running during 2001. It's still up on tripod covered in ads of course:

Before we turn this into a hadrian bashing thread, lets get back on topic.

Anybody else got old websites (or links for that matter) from the SE community that they would like to publish?

Urendi Maleldil

He was a very talented Artist that's for sure, and the few conversations I had with him painted a positive picture for me.

As for Paranoia and Craziness, I've met crazier in this community http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

SE.net has links to lots of old sites in its Web Links section. Not all are still valid, but most of them are.

I could provide some web space for such a project, if you want to be in charge of gathering such sites.

How large is the file? I get incomplete file errors when downloading even the latest version.

I reduced the size of the zip file by getting rid of some photoshop files that found their way into it. Those things are pretty big. Works good now.

I worked a long time on this empire. It's actually kinda fun reading the old history and stuff again. Goodness I was a bad writer.

It's amazing which ones still work though. I think the Devorae site has been abandoned for almost half a decade and it's on a free server. Yet somehow it survives.

I still have the SE Ladder sitting on a server. If I get some time this weekend, I’ll bring it on line for old times sake.

Anyone wanna play an SE3 game?

Just kidding. I don't want to get re-addicted.

hmmm.... is not a bad idea

LordAxel

Never a bad idea but there are far too many tricks that unbalance the game for those that dont know them.

The ladder were the good old days, although at the end it seemed like everyone was at war. Or atleast they were all at war with us, evil wasnt apprecited then

I liked the roleplaying and the fact that every empire and their grandmother had a website

It's a shame that paranoia and ego-flaring had to bring it down. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Was done in the past by, of all people, Hadrian.

I believe it was called the "Ark of Aeons" although I could be wrong.

It never went online though...

Azselendor
March 5th, 2005, 05:06 PM
what didn't go online? Ark of Eons? Wasn't that a black and grey site with copies of websites hosted on it?

Fyron
March 5th, 2005, 05:10 PM
It was always in the "to be coming" stage... It is possible that it was available in one of those hidden sections on SE.org, but not to the rest of us.

Urendi Maleldil
March 5th, 2005, 08:18 PM
The Ark actually was online for a few months until SpaceEmpires.whatever it was just disappeared. It had a few old, old sites. I remember he archived the old old EarthClan site among others.

hehehe, agree old foe... but think most the games are like you said (SE4 too, by the way!).

LordAxel said:

Agree again. Think the Ladder times were very funny.

Never liked too much the previous age when Microft ruled thousands of galaxies (yes, I have wrote galaxies), in the SE3 times with pure rpg.
Lord Microft had a "massive" empire, but just because claimed it... he never needed to play an Se3 game to win a war.
By the way, the real person under Hadrian is named Theron Williams (you can see him in the credits for SE4 and SE4G beta testers).
Well, I'm pretty sure that Microft was a previous character played by Theron (although he never admited that, I had mails from Microft and Hadrian, having the same IP... and think still could recover those mails from a backup!).

hehehe, but I was far to be really good... many times just pretended to act moved by good reasons! (hehehe withouth the spirit to start a controversy about this matter, I was inspired by the policies of some countries in the real world, specially USA!).

At the end, think the Chaos Contingency failed just because the players where not strong enough... and to be really evil think you must be strong!
Of course that you must remember the CC moto: "The weak shall perish"... well it happened to the CC... but I must admit that the fun and the Ladder perished with them!

Too bad there wasnt a site like PBW back then for se3 to help get some of those old games done. It also took us alittle while to catch onto the se3 trick till the near end of the ladder. It was easy to look weak when playing against you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. Unfortunately i think se4 helped spell the end for the ladder with the game changing and some of the players refusing to ever use it for the ladder.
