View Full Version : I Want My Money Back!!!!
Atrocities

You read it right, I want my money for this game! No where is it written in the manual or does it say that it would be an addictive life altering diVersion from reality.
There were no warning lables telling me that I would be helplessly sucked into the game for hours, sometimes days on in.
Where on the CD or in the game manual does it list the side effects of playing the game? I did not see anything telling me that I would suffor from "just one more turn" syndrom, forum addiction, and other 4x game illurgic reactions!
I want my money back because I need it to pre-order SE V!
Also where was no warning lable advising me that SE IV would suck up my free time like a super massive black hole? I often wonder how many poeple have lost their jobs because of this game and the JOMT (Just One More Turn) syndrom?
Oh ya, one other side effect of playing this game aside from Forum Addiction, is that it compels me to write stories and make ship sets. It is spooky!
Not to mention the dreams, the endless desire to promote it, the wanting inner most craving to play it, even when I am asleep, and above all else, the cost, both in time as well as in cash, needed to satisfy my SE IV cravings.

Not to mention the fact that one starts refering to one's self as Grand Overlord of the Universe and begins to talk in third person.

Well you see AT, there's only one flaw with your logic. You see, when you bought the game, there had been no human testing of the possible effects the game may or may not have on those of us unfortunate enough to become addicted.
You, and others like you unwittingly served as guinea pigs. You were the human testing. I say you request that Malfador sends you a free copy of SEV when it's out, as a 'payment' for your services rendered as a human guinea pig.

Hey i should get one too....for all the demo hours i put in:-D. All my wealth and power over the ai's and than once i am mega evil thinking how to deal with the weaklings until you realise you are surrended and are pounded 24/7. Than you have nightmares at night when you see your ESCORT OF DOOM being destroyed. OH NOOOOOOOO

I remembered when I was playing the SE3 demo on my brand new computer back in 2001. I never won a game, was losing every combat, my research was all over the place. Yet every night, I came home, fired it up, and spent all night playing. Then the SE4 demo was released, same thing, I never survived to the 100 turn limit, but I kept coming back. I bought the full version, never knowing if I'd ever actually win.
I knew what was coming and I went for it anyway. I deserve no sympathy.

I want my time back, the 1000+ hours I spent playing the game. I could have used the time to study and gotten a college diploma or something.

I don't want my time back...I have little better to do most of the time anyways. At least until I go to university http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Rest assured; you will have just as much free time most of the time in university as well. Until finals week, of course. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

They say that we fill our free time up with things that we want sub-consiously.
For many of us who fill our free time playing SEIV, we must want to be Supreme Overlords who reign as Emperors over vast interstellor empires.

If I've been a Human Lab Rat for SEIV there is only thing I can say...
Give me my hamster wheel, a cage and a copy of SEV, Let the testing commence http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Actually, you are all in a Phase II clinical trial of SEIVAU (Trade name - Space Empires Four Gold). Once we have determined that no ill effects are found with normal healthy subjects, we can move on to a double-blinded clinical trial in the target population.
Thank you for your compliance.
Please end your turn and start the next.

I think Shrapnel knew about it all along and they have evidence to that buried somewhere in some 5 year old memo archived in someone's email. I think that might be grounds for a 'class action' suit. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

And no computer? You'll spend the rest of your miserable life running depressedly around in your hamster wheel and sleeping in your cage, thinking about SEV until the sheer mental stress tears your transdimensional quantum structure apart and we never even knew you existed...
Hmm. I wonder how many Malfador beta testers went that way...?

For those of us that do not have the pulse of the forum, what is the real status on SE V? Is it really close to beta testing or pre-order status?

Beta testing applications will be collected at the end of March. Beta testing is set to begin on April 1, 2005.

Where does one get a beta-testing application? Any word on that yet?

Mindi put out a call for beta testers about a week and a half ago.

Beta Test Call-Closed
As for SE5 beta testing, I'm not sure if that was rolled into the above, but there might be another chance for SE specific testers...

I highly doubt that was a call for beta-testers for SEV.

Of course if you pledge to buy and pre-order 100 copies of SE V sight unseen, you might, I say might, just convince the powers that be to sell you a beta slot. Ya right, and if the moon had water on it, we would all be jet skiing on the dark side.
