Me was thinking, with all the pretty sigs wanderin' around on the forums, why don't we have a place to show them and talk about them?

Just an idea.

I've got all kinds of old stuff in here... haven't looked in a while.

I wonder how many people still have the Black&Red warning boxes in their sigs?

At least two..... you and Combat Wombat I believe.

And as for my sig, well, the 1984 quote is simply my favorite quote of all time. The quote from "Long Way To Go" is about racial inequality and discrimination (snow & asphalt - white & black. Cold looks and bad talk. Martin Luther.). The SEIV Code is, well, simply SEIV Code and the BWII quote..... has not actually happened yet as BWII still needs more support, but I just thought it would be cool to add it in light of recent preparations for BWII.

Yep my warning is still here but my save the OT is currently gone until fyron finishes getting all of se.net up

Edit: Thanks for hosting the picture for me SJ

Only a true Canadian has even a glimmer of a chance of figuring out what mine's all about. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Sorry Grandpa Kim, I have no clue what yours means. And I consider myself a true Canadian...lived here all my life.

Maybe it's an Albertan thing that British Columbians can't figure out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Speaking of shameless plugs for our websites everyone should check out the updated version of my Space Empires Center at http://www.secenter.org/

I see I'll have to update my links since you picked up a new domain.

Random links make up my signature (I am lazy myself, and that could actually be useful to someone else once in a blue moon), along with a random quote. Hmm, I should change that random quote...

Change it to my quote from IRC chat!

'What did you think everyone was doing in PBW? Holding hands and singing kumbaya?'

Do I have the oldest unchanged sig? It goes back almost to the release of SEIV. Can't say I'm not persistent!

I never got Gold, mainly because my understanding was that the scenario editor offered was very limited. It sounded like more of a map editor. In my definition, a scenario editor allows (at a bare minimum) setting ALL initial conditions. Really, it should also allow setting triggers & events, though I'd be willing to compromise on that. Maybe I am misinformed, but I don't think Gold has that.

Correct, there is no scenario editor with Gold. The editor that came with Gold is just for making maps and not scenarios.

To make scenarios, just play a game to the scenario point, and then save it.

You move the savegame to the scenario folder, and add a bunch of scenario text messages and pictures to go with it. Follow the tutorial for an example.

That's how I made my exodus scenario.

Yes, that's a clever idea, which partially works around the lack of a scenario editor. And you can use the map editor to put in ruins with whatever tech you want. You colonize the ruins to get the tech, then abandon the colony. (I think that idea came from geoschmo.) So that all helps. You can do many things with the initial conditions if you are systematic enough. But it's clumsy and incomplete, and you can't set event triggers at all.

The quote at the bottome just sums up how I feel most of the time.
