You gotta be kidding me. Wasn't that the dorky show with that old fart from Bonanza, and the Psilons, the robots with that one eye that looked like a ball of light bouncing from side to side?

Not the BSG 1980 show, but the 70's one. In the new show they are going to make it were the 1980 show never took place. New races will be added and the cylons will be a lot more aggressive. The ships will be given more detail and the battles will be inhanced greatly. It's return was headed up by Richard from the orginal show. He was to make it the way it should have been maked in the first place. A number of the orginial cast members will be doing the writing and producing of the show.

They have been talking about bringing back the show as a new TV series or movie for a long time(years)!
So far it's been just talk.
Richard Hatch hasn't had the cooperation or approval from the creator of the show.

Don't hold your breath waiting for it.

Tampa--
I have gotten about half tof the BSG ship set done for the colonials.
I replaced the heavy carrier with the battlestar. I think that the ship size for this ship should be increased about 20% and that a 10% should be point defense 5% missles. The ship should have shields and some armor as a requirement.
I replaced the large fighter with a viper. and the other two fighters are Versions of the viper.
The other replaced ships, I will keep as a surprise for when I post the set.
Could you start working on an Ai for this. I should have the ship set completed in about 10 days.
P.s.
I will have the cylon ship set completed in 3 weeks.

Are you going to make the non carrier ship classes shaped like a carrier but without the two landing bays on the sides? Thats what I would do.

If you can't cut and paste exact outlines of ships and be able to blend them in let me know, I could probably help you there some.

I would like to remove most of the carrier class and add the battlestar (making it a combo style that must have fighters and weopons, it will attack after lunching it's fighters. should be 50% larger then the heavy carrier.If the game can not handle this then the battlestar will become the heavycarrier.)
here is the layout for the ships so far
Destroyer, Cruiser, Battlestar, small transport, meduim transport, large transport,
small fighter, medium fighter, large fighter,
sat, mine, colony ship.
spacestation will be required shipyard.( I found a picture of a bsg spacestation building a battlestar on the dvd video.)

Still working on--- the troops, escort, battleship, carrier.

There may be no battle cruiser or light cruiser, light carrier, heavy carrier, (if I can remove these for this race without causing problems with the game.)

I may remove the starbase, since they did not have any.
hopely the battlestar can balance out.
We will see.

Some of the ship designs may surprise you.

Dracus - We need to decide how you want to structure the hull sizes b/c this has a direct effect on the AI I started (assuming you still want me to work on the AI). In order to keep the principles of the mod pack (i.e. no mods to components\research, etc.) I would like to keep the current hull sizes, but just eliminate certain sizes for the colonials and cylons. This way, it can be played by everyone and won't effect all the other races out there. I for one am looking forward to fighter battles between the Earth Alliance and BSG races http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

Yes I want you to do the mod for BSG.
Right now I just need the colonials done.

First, I need to know if adding a ship named battlestar for this race would cause any issues? if So then I will post my second idea rather then my first.

Dracus, we have to have a complete shipset.
Make the Battlestar a heavy carrier and just downsize it for the medium and light carrier.

Dracus - its your call, but I would vote for a normal ship set. Again, this is so everyone can use them without having to modify their VehicleSize.txt files.

I have completed the ship set. I still need to get them to mask correctly. I still get black spots around them when they move across a nebula.
May need some help with this.

I seem to rememeber something about RGB(0,0,0) being transparent, while you need to use RGB(0,0,1) to get black.
This is from the memory of a non-graphics type person so some one else will need to confirm it.

Dracus - use MMs styltester to test the background mask. It does a great job. If you want, I would be glad to help out. When you get a chance, I would also like to use some of the graphics you created to start incorporating into the AI files while I playtest (better than the neutral set I am currently using for them). Just e-mail to ctraber@ngn-tampa.com. Thanks. We can also talk about parameters, research, etc. to make sure we are on the same page.

I just got Photo shop so I can now clean up the ship set and fix the masking problem. I will send you the set as is first thing on thursday. I will clean up the set and send you the cleaned up Version by next monday.

We are hard at work completing the colonials.
And I have started the AI and ship set work on the cylons. Any input on how they should act, please post.
