I am trying to use Trillian Basic 3.0 to connect to #SpaceEmpires IRC, but none of the connection instructions on the site make sense! Someone please help?!?

I myself am also not having much luck with that phenom. Then again I am a rather dense and impatient chap...

Under the connection manager for IIRC - General Tab
Server Name: irc.freenode.net
Groupname: No Group
The rest seems to be pre-set by Trillian.

All I see is this.....
(note: the three fields with Strategia are Nickname, Username and User Info)
Do I need to do anything else to be able to join #SpaceEmpires?

I don't know. #spacempires is the channel. All I do is click on the IIRC option and click JOIN CHANNEL then type in the #spaceempires and then OK. It loads just fine for me.....

look in spaceempires.net, instructions are there on how to join the channel, or contact Fyron or Sj

I HAVE looked on the site, the instructions make NO SENSE to me..... perhaps they're meant for another version of Trillian, but I can't do anything said there. And I already contacted Fyron two minutes ago!

You have to set up your connection. Settings, then connections, then just add an IRC setting. Fill out the server, then all of the name thingies, then on advanced you can set commands to execute while joining.

The connection instructions on the site were written for Trillian 0.74 and Trillian 1.0/2.0. Cerulean keeps changing the connection window around with every new release...
In the Identities and Connections screen, add an IRC connection. The fields should be:
Name: Freenode
server: irc.freenode.net::6667
Nickname: the name you want displayed on the channel
Username: real name field (set to same as Nickname for ease of use)
User Info: a name that goes in front of your host mask (set to same as Nickname for ease of use)
Next, click on the Change button. This brings up a window with Connection and Miscellaneous tabs. In the Connection tab, add this to the Perform Buffer text field:
/join #SpaceEmpires
Click Save Settings, then click Close, then connect to the new IRC connection.
