Ok, I decided to roll the dice and upgrade the new/old P2 400 I just got. I placed my old 3dfx card into its AGP slot and tried to install win2k. I set it to NTSF format and well once it finished converting the files it shut the monitor off and well.... I cannot get it to come back on no matter what I do. The PC has an on the mother board video card but I have never had this happend before. The AGP slot always bumped the on board video. I figured perhaps I need to set the bios, but again I cannot get the PC to turn on the monitor no matter if I use the 3dfx card or the OB video card. Any suggestions?

I guess when I swapped it from FAT32 to NTSF I messed something up....

I am going to pull the 3dfx card and see if that helps.

Its really no big loss, I can buy a new POWER supply for my old tower and if need be buy a new HD for $50.00 and a cheap Geforce MX card and go from their.

I just wanted to get a pc up and running so my nephews could play head to head quake 2.

BTW, the expansion packs for Quake will not install on XP. Any one know a way to circumvent this?

Take a look at this. It could be your problem.

I think its a heat issue. After a while I tried it again and it worked. However whenever the PC is restarted, after an update say, I have to leave it off for a bit, about 20 minutes, before I restart it and hope that it restarts the monitor.

Any one know a good site for getting the old 3dfx drivers?

No Problem Buddy, My head is full of what I often think is 'useless junk'. I'm just glad that this tid-bit of gray-matter helped in this case.

FYI: The 'voodofiles' link was found (in my brain) right beside the 'POKE 53279' data..(It's the Atari 800 'Start' key Memory Address).

See I told you my head was full of useless stuff http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
