The plan now is to tweek the game balance issues, we had to deal with
out of control money making gimmicks and out of control race issues.
I think host 193 does a great job of addressing that.
Even though there are calls by some to toss all the combat code and
start over, there are no plans for that. I am happy with the way things
are working now.
My list of host tweeks is empty, now it is a matter of getting rid
of the last few true bugs and the computer AI finished as well as the
DOC files.

Huh?
What's VGAP4? Never mind, I'll start a short search for it.
Edit:
Hmm... interesting... I'll read more about it soon.
Thanks Gandalf.

Sorry. VGA Planets 3 is a fairly well-known predecessor to SEIV. Another is a game called Stars! (the exclamation is part of the name). Both have new versions which have gun up and down in the rumor mill for many years. Both have fairly large dedicated playing bases which are still quite loyal to the games.

After some reading in the nood guide, I´m convinced this is not the game for me. I thinks it´s too messy (not user friendly) to have much fun with. The game is designed to give players years and years of fun, but I wonder if that just isn't the time necessary to complete only one gamesession... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Away with this game, just as with Stars!. I was eager to see Stars! Genesis, but I lost interest when they dumped the game (after a fairly long period of uncertainty).
But thanks anyway for mentioning this game Gandalf. You even have your name stated with honours on the site where I've read the nood guide.

Someone on the #spaceempires channel (I forget who) did a forum search and found that Stars! *Supernona has been sold to a publisher, who them decided they didn't want to sell it.

Narf:
I was among the people who posted that message on this forum. Well I didn't post the message, I believe that was IF or AT. But I did gave the site I followed during the short lifetime of Stars! Supernova (or Stars! Genesis as it was known in the beginning). I'm still very curious as to how the game would have been, too bad the publisher decided to dump the game. Ah well, back to reality, back to SE V!!

Yeah VGAP and Stars were both games where I got in too late. By the time I was looking at them all of the tactics and strategies had already been debated for years. But I still managed to put a few surprises into the mix and get mentioned for both. And majorly with Dominions 2.
Same for SEIV I notice. Latecomer that I am I managed to get mentioned for a couple small things in the FAQ. Being at the beginning of SEV might be.... interesting.
