Are tachyon and various other sensors system wide? Can I have one ship with the appropriate sensors in the system and dectect cloaked ships, or does the ship with the sensors have to be in the same sector as the cloaked ship?

Sensors detect cloaked ships in a system.

I believe if you have 1 ship/base/sat in a system w/a sensor of appropriate level that is able to detect the cloaking level of the enemy ship, the enemy is viewable to all your forces.

somewhere in the archives there is a verrry good discussion on sensors and cloaking - I found it very helpfull. can't remember what it was called or when the Last time I saw it was -sorry

Thanks, guys. Was that the case with SE III too? I thought you could only see cloaked ships if you were in the same sector. We always take cloaking out when we play at work anyway, kind of a rhetorical question I suppose.

In SE3 cloaking detection kinda sucked. All that tachon sensors did was prevent cloacked ships from entering the sector that contained a ship with Sesnors.

SE4, cloaked ships become visible.

So far as I can tell: what whitehojo said. I am in a deathstruggle with the Xi'Chung in my current game and the little roaches are cloaking to the max....
