Greetings,
Anyone knows how the research points are calculated with each level of a technology (What is the function?)?
For example, a starting cost of 100,000 would end to how much at level 20?

First, each tech area has a cost specified in techarea.txt for the first level. Let's call that cost C. The cost for levels beyond the first depends on the tech cost setting in game setup as follows (L = tech level):
Low: cost = C * L
Medium: cost = C * L * L / 2
High: cost = C * L * L

Also, note that the cost to research level 1 of any tech area is always the cost listed in techarea.txt (C). Level one techs are not half as expensive as they would be otherwise in a medium tech cost game.

I believe that for every level, the start cost is added. So if you have a 5000 RP tech area, for lvl 3 you need 15000.
I don't know for sure, but I believe this was it.

The formulas Douglas posted are quite correct. There is just an oddity with medium tech costs for level 1.
