I have looked about and have not found any good up to date info on this mod. Does any one have a clue?
I have been kicking around the idea of making my own SEIV Empire / Rebel ship sets for my own use, especially now that I have a whole new list of ships that I can use, thanks to Episode III and Empires At War preview.
Right now there are NO Star Wars 4x games on the market and aside from an RTS style game, Empires At War, there are no plans for one. The only Star Wars 4x game was Rebellion and it barely fit into the mold. It was limited to 200 systems, and had only two sides. It was a great game in its own right but the learning curve was horrendous at best. Well worth it if you took the time to learn the game.
It's been nearly five years since SEIV beta was released and still no working Star Wars mod. Am I the only one who finds this very disappointing?
I mean how hard could it be to hash out a good mod out line. They had only four or five weapon types, with point defense cannons being very inaccurate. Lasers, Turbo Lasers, Ion Cannons, and blasters.
Sure they had an assortment of troops and fighters, but that can be modded into the game seperately as Infantry, Ground Based Assualt Forces, and Air Assualt Forces.
Fighters are pretty basic, each side has about four major designs.
As to capitol ships, well look to Rebellion and a few other Star Wars games for a good list.
Use portions of Suicide Junkies Carrier mod, with his permission of course, and rename a lot of stock SEIV technology, components, and weapons, and your off and running.
Hell you could even use my Hero/Facility idea to make the System Governors and such. (basically replace a facility with an image of a man, give him system or planet ability, with limitation of one per planet or system)
We would not have to worry to much about fighter weapons as most fighters use lasers.
A propulsion system could be devised that allowed for hyperdrive, FTL, and stardrive engines. Each would have a differant cost, size, and supply usage requirement.
Ships that max there speed out each turn would run out of supplies faster than if they limited their movements to half of less of their maximum range.
The way I see it, I have but two choices, I can reinstall and play Rebellion, a seven year old game, yes it does have 3d combat, or I can wait for a Space Empires IV Star Wars Mod and play it.
I would prefer to have a SEIV mod as the game has far more depth than Rebellion even if it does not have the DEPTH of rebellion. (Rebellion had some great concepts that SEIV - or V - could really benefit from adopting, but likely will won't.)

I know Intimidator was workin on his version. It had hero and everything...i myself thought it was great. Not sure what u were thinking but he already added hero trait to it.
We nice done and he redid some other things but can not remember. Can't wait til he comes back

Ya we had talked a while back. I don't know if he was using hero's as components, or not. Component hero's work too, but then you end up with 20 Admiral Petts.... not good.

Indeed , I will be gone for another 3 weeks (2 if all goes well the next week), but am allowed to go home in the weekends now.
My recovery is going fine and can walk around now a bit, and my concussion is over now (at last, had some serious headache for 5 weeks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif )
And again I want to thank everybody from the SEIV society for the (mental) support.
But now the important news, INDEED I am working on an Star Wars mod (I even want to call it the Rebellion Mod). And although I didn't have any internet acces for the last 6 weeks, I had my laptop with me all the time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. So I can announce that I made some good progress the last weeks.

---- Indeed AT. that is the only problem with my mod. Hero-components......... It can be played only with mutual trust between players, that you will build/use only one of the hero's in your empire.
But I really want that part of the gameplay, So I added it and will NOT remove it. (Damn, it is the most important part I added to the mod (Still based on Andres SWii mod, ships scale, which I think is great.)
Another very important part I added the last weeks are unique (planet originated) tech areas (used with canon SW map).
Example : do you want Tauntaun's -> colonize Hoth.
En do you want some faster construction sites -> go to Kuat or Corellia.........
And offcourse the Imperial military academy can be found on Carida for some better officers and troopers/pilots.
Am workin now on:
- Geonosis (some old abandoned droid factory http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )
- Kamino (Cloning abilities)
- Kessel (Better (spice) mining)
- Wayland (The emperor's treasure-chamber, Joruus C'baoth / spaarti cilinders / Luke's DNA)
- Dathomir (witches/Rancors ??? have to fill this in yet)
And am working on more, but didn't had internet acces so am delayed on that part (So everybody who red all the books , please give me INFO)
But the most important part of the mod will be ROLEPLAYING (*** people know who play(ed) my ST: Quadrants of conflict games)
I know that some people don't like it but I prefer canon/realism ABOVE game/empire Balance.
So the mod will never work as SP game , but will be fun as Multiplayer.
I hope I informed you well enough for now.
And I will make sure that some Beta is available soon....

I've stopped working on my Star Wars mod because I'm beta testing SEV. I have a few data files, notes, and ideas I can send you if you want.
I think there were a couple of people also working on SW mods.

Those are good pictures btw. Not so textured, but good. If that middle ship is going to be Victory-class it doesn'tīt look like one.

Those ships are just test models. I have no idea what a victory class looks like. These were done from memory.

To get the color and texture needed for depth of view, mainly top down, is going to be very tricky.

There is an Intimidator star destroyer. There are simply too many star destroyers.

I'd go for a small one, a middle sized one, a big one and a huge giant one. Thus covering the range of star destroyers in as much detail as is needed.
Ohhh and a special component: 'Hick farm boy' that can kill death stars in one shot.

YOu all must keep in mind that SEIV does not lend itself well to ship size scales. So all of the ships used will appear to be of the same size visually. That is just the nature of the game.

Ahoy, Im still quite new to SE4 and still learning the game mechanics. Ive wondered too why this pretty game still has no decent SW mod available.
Next the hero-facilities, there could be maybe a more flexible method for implementing heroes of the saga to the game:
Create special hero-starships with unique unaffordable hero-components and let the player start every game with them.
Compared to hero-facilities, players could decide in which sector/system they are going to park their heroes with different abilities like economic and tactical bonuses which affect one sector, the whole system, or the entire empire.
To prevent hero-ships attacked by ordinary forces you could give them the same cloaking ability like the civilian starships of the Pirates&Nomad and Adamant mod which would be only detectable by other hero-ships scanners.
To make things more interesting, hero-ships could be captured by the enemy to force them providing their bonuses to the enemy side.
Here are some examples of hero-ships:
Rebels
- Mon Mothma and Admiral Ackbar flying on the Mon Calamari star cruiser Home One presenting the mobile Rebel headquarters which provides bonuses in all categories (happiness, production, ship/fleet training, etc.) in the sector/system
- Luke (with R2) on his X-Wing with superior combat ability and combat modifier bonus for the entire system.
- Han, Leia, Chewie and 3P0 on the Millenium Falcon with diplomatic (happiness) bonus for the current sector/system
- Lando Calrissian on his Lucky Lady space-yacht with superior economic bonuses for the sector/system
- General Madine on a Nebulon-B frigate providing intelligence points per turn, superior ship boarding, scanner, and mine-laying/-sweeping capability - acting as the Rebel hero-ship hunter
Imperials
- Emperor Palpatine on his Imperial shuttle providing bonuses in all categories to the sector/system
- Darth Vader with Admiral Piett and General Viers on the slow-moving SDD Executor with bonuses to combat and economy but moral penalty by oppressive force in the sector/system
- Boba Fett on his Slave I with superior combat power inclusive ship boarding, long-range scanning, and intelligence points generating - acting as the Imperial hero-ship hunter

That would be a good idea, however there is no way that you can mod SEIV to start with ships. It's impossible in SEIV, but perhaps it'll be a possibility in SEV or SEVI.
Plus, adding to what you're proposing, heroes should be able to move about. General Veers fought planetside with his AT-ATs, Luke isn't always in the X-Wing, Solo and Chewie aren't always in the Falcon and so forth.

I wanted to wait with my return on the SEIV form and comunity but when I saw the post from Outcast I had to respond ...........
Because Outcast , the most you described above, is already done and ready for play in my : ' Star Wars : Rebellion Mod '
All the Heros have bonuses regarding to the character or role, (example : Leia has some good Intell bonus due to her diplomatic knowledge and experience / Chewie has some extro repair abilities..... etc etc)
And indeed I also added the special ship tech's.
(Falcon with torpedo mount and smuggling bay , and Vaders Tie-fighter and offcourse Slave - I etc etc)
So please give me a few more days (really need an canon star wars map) and I will put it on the web.

Scenarios.
You can't start with ships on a standard new game, but a scenario will let you start with anything legal, and if you jump through some hoops, even start with things that cannot be built.

I forgot to ask, Intimdator did you want the models for the Imperial ships? I have only made about nine ships thus far, no fighters or other. I have not done much with the Rebel ships yet, other than the one posted.
If you could kind of, as time permits, give me a list of ships that you would like made, I will try my best to do so. Otherwise I will work on the set as I get time and the occational inspiration. Not much you can do with wedged shaped ships.

I made a couple of prototypes of them already. I want to fiddle with them some more. They only had three or four types prior to the Avenger Class. I still have to make the super stardestroyer class, death star, and other ships. Bases, try to make fighters, transports, try to make troops - albeit those could come from somewhere else and look far better than I could ever make them look.

Hm, Maybe make a 1kt (Or 0kt) Unit(or component/facility) and just name it Hero, or Commander, or something, and make it cost a lot of resources and have an ungodly build time (to reduce the 'spam' of it). That way, you'd be able to roleplay away from the main story line, and still be able to use Heros. It would also justify having more then one per empire.

My Idea of a SW Fleet:
An SSD in the center of the formation, flanked by 5 to 9 SDs and some Nebulon-B frigates. Also some TIE Fighter squadrons flying around between them.

The SSD is a little bit more elongated, and it has a small (very small) command tower somewhere on the rear. It is an exact copy of the standard SD command tower. Go to http://www.merzo.net/10mpp for the command tower.

The limitations of the 128x128 and 36x36 box prevent it appearing "like" it should. If only the 36x36 was 36x 46 instead... oh that would have been ideal.

Hey Intimidator. How goes the healing process? Ya I will more likely than not make a rebel set as well. Right now I am just trying to figure out how best to make this Empire set. I know that most people will not use it, its not cannon enough, but that is ok. I am really making it just for my own personal use and if a couple of others download and use them then great.

The Laser Array should be more sunken in, instead of the lines looking rippley going away from the center, they should look like rays going away from the main emitter. Overall, the second picture looks more like the original except for how much the array sticks out.

I think the main problem with the array is the ridge you have running along the edge of it, it's too thick. Make it thinner and lower and it should look better. Also, a TINY ridge around the center line, like a ring, not so the center is elevated, would look better.
But out of those last two, the left one has the proper shape, whereas the right one has the perfect texture...
Good job on all the other ships though!

What if you copy and scale down the whole cannon structure there...
Place the small copy in the middle of the indentation, and fade the radial lines out a bit?
That, plus some rounding off on the faceted perimeter of the whole thing should get it looking pretty close to the movie screenshot there.

All I can really do is ask that someone with a lot more skill than I do that. I would be happy to render a larger image and several cannon types if I could get someone who knows how to use PSP or PS.

All you'd have to do is grab the circle-selection tool, pick off the dish, and hit copy / paste... then reduce to about 15% and drag it to the middle of the existing dish.
Take a black brush, and zoom way in to just simply shave off the faceted edges on the perimeter.
The portrait looks like it has about 16 sides instead of being a circle at the moment, because of the inherent issues with meshes that don't have insane numbers of polygons in them.

Do you have thought about installing the Imperial Gunboat,Missileboat, Lambda Shuttle and Scimitar Bomber as "shuttles", like the Shuttle class in Star Trek Mod?
They could serve as "warpcapable" vessels replacing the Drone class, as i do not remember any drones in the sense SE IV stock uses them in Star Wars ( okay there are the droid-capsules as used on Hoth ).
The motto could be : stronger than fighters, faster than capital ships or something like that .
One has to think about something adequate for the rebels then, but perhaps they could be allowed to have their fighters go warp instead.
Will you make something out of the New Jedi Order Timeline too? As the Yuuzhang Vong might be a really tough one enemy to all others in the SW universe.....

Hm, about the shuttle thing, in the Star-Trek MOD, the shuttles act like fighters. To really get a warp capable one, you'd have to use a lambda shuttle as the portrait for, say, an Escort or frigate. (*hopes fighters can use warp points in SEV*)

IIRC (don't know if this is still a feature), you can create your own vehicle types in SEV. You can make non-warp-capable Ships, warp-capable Fighters, Bases that can be carried as cargo etc. That would be ideal for sci-fi mods like the SW and ST Mods.

I wish I was able to make an AI , just created some mod when I was in the hospital...
Its not perfect but really fun for multiplayer. (played 3 games already)
But still need canon Star Wars map, with this mod. (have some unique ruine traits, for some induvidual planets.

I do have one map from the revised core rulebook of the d20 star wars roleplaying game. This one is really neat. I use it to produce a map for SE IV. That one i can send you!
Btw how do you want to design the map?
I mean if you take a look at the star wars galaxy it is difficult inho to reproduce that in SEIv with one star per sector map, because the planets in those sectors are not orbiting the same sun but each has itīs own system.....
I thought a big deal about that and came up with the idea of creating a map where all ( or at least what i take for all) planets of a sector, which is shown by that map of mine, do have a star for their own. That makes of cause such devices as solar generators and thelike much more efficient, but i think i have a more accurate picture of the star wars galaxy. I named the warppoints after the trade lines, so eg.ermillian trade spine, going somewhere from the outer rim through bespin sector to the core worlds.....
So whats your idea abou that map?

which thought to be really good looking, plus 3 picturs of my own. As you will see when you open them and especially mine i am no good at 3d painting and drawing. So i asked weather you could take these and try to work on them to make some seIV ships out of them.
As i du not know how much work and efforts that mean i asked you to deny my "request" at any time.
Especially the Space Jets i found worthy of being converted.

I guess we know where ILM got the idea for those DROID ships in EP II. I think copywrite infringement is the word I am looking for.

Okay here comes the first one!
in this zip i put the fighters!
you see that the Khrat Class and the Phoenix Class are just 2D. Simply i have no talent for this 3D stuff( Gunstar was the exception). The Phoenix Class fighter i had in mind was slighty curved, meaning that the fighter has his back lower than the cockpit and nose.

Here is the second one with the space jets and the minor globe class ships. I tried and search for the bst pictures, those that are allready somhow 3D or spherical. The minor Globe with the Tortuga class goea for both the Space jets and this 200m Tortuga Class capital ship.
The fighters and the space jets would be "my" first chioce for being converted.

So here comes the third zipfile for you Atrocities!
The files in here are capital ships.
When you have the time you could probably convert them.
There are some 2D pictures and some of them "quasi" 3D
My absolute Favorite is the ODIN.
In some blueprints you could find other Sphereships or "kugelraumer" as they are referred to in Perry Rhodan..
Perhaps you could make something out of them too...
Anyway, i thank you very much for even considering doing some work on these pirctures and blueprints.

For some practical (testing) reasons I will play the Imperials. The mod is balance enough when only played with two rebels...... but a 3th is always welcome.....
so the 2 of you (Heretic and Colonel) have to decide which rebel party they play.

Inti, I thought I would tell you some errors in the mod, I was running a test on the Empire so most of these are for them.
First off, The advanced space yards which are supposed to lower the value of the planets in the system actually raise planets value.
The Empire's base called Space Dock I believe the ability you added acts as a space port for the system doesnt work.
I dont know if this one was by design or not but the Hyperdrive motivator acts like a space yard but has no production value, you might want to change it so it is just a repair bay type thing that repairs one componet per turn instead of space yard unless that was by design.
Also for some reason the Cloaking device is counted as an engine in the design screen.
Thats all that I noticed immediatly.

- Imp. Spacedock : was an left over from the original SWii mod, Andres already wrote in the description that it would probably not work (and he was right) but I deleted it.
- Hyperdrive motivator : is also andres design , but as I can see it it was all by design. (but will try to figure it out, for now I left it the old way)
- Cloaking Device : same as above, not from my hand, but I think it is used for give the cloaked ship an movement penalty (otherwise I don't know, but will try to contact Andres)

I wonder if it might be possible for the alliance to have that KDY Planet Defender Ion Cannon Mount for Planetary weapon plattforms available. The empire fired the engenner responsible for the design before they could evaluate the worthyness of the design and he defected to the rebels and gave them exclusive access to his cannon. Take in account that only 2 shots were sufficient to disable the Terror over Hoth one could sure assign a certain damage capacity.....

You can use negative values for "improves planetary value" ability, but I do not believe negative system bonuses function. Also, planetary bonuses stack (add all of them that affect the planet together, including negatives), and system bonuses do not stack. You have the same affect with the happiness abilities: system happiness is positive only and one per system, planetary happiness can be negative and you can have as many as you would like to use.
The hyperdrive motivator is probably an emergency movement device, right? Such devices require the presence of a space yard in the sector to be repaired. So, giving it a 0 SY ability means it can be repaired, thus used once per turn. Personally, I would remove such devices because they are a huge hassle to use in PBW games. You have to remove all of the ships from the fleet and give them use component orders one by one...
Another possibility for the cloaking device having an engine ability is that it can now be targeted by anti-engine components. I recall much discussion over just how to implement ion blasters or whatever they are that just damages electronic systems.

To that Ion Cannon Mount:
I think of the Ion Cannon on Hoth. That is a KDY design from an ex engineer of KDY who defected to the alliance. I thoght it might be interesting in creating a special weapons platform mount for the rebels that will increase the damage and range of a planetary ion cannon system in such a way, that it might be able to cripple a star destroyer in 2 to 4 shots. Or evem better try and create a special tech for the rebels when you research weapon platforms Level III in which you give them a special weapom platform the "KDY Planet Defender Ion Cannon"

There is a whole ion weapon tech-tree, But indeed NO special rebel mount or something.
But, I played the game several times now, and it's possible to cripple an SD with the Ion's already in the mod. Also is it possible to destroy an SD with an group of fighters (with proton torpedos) if placed on the other side of an WP.
As I said before, the game is (mostly) balanced. But you need to play the Rebels as Rebels (hide, hit & run, hide again) until you can bring enough of your big ships to arms.

Yes, That is possible , just use all the rebel-traits when making your empire (alliance / Calamari /Bothan).
But I tried to ballance the mod a bit, so it would be very easy for the empire when the Rebel are starting with only 1 planet....... They really need 2 against 1 imperial starting planet.

I not possible , but you can create a game with 1 empire and 2 rebels with both of them all the rebel-traits. And let them start in same system, and just let one of them surender to the other.
But again , mod is far from SP.

Sp will take a lot of effort. You have to basicially build the AI from scratch to use the new components, facilities, and such. The one thing the AI does well is not understanding what it needs to do well.

Yes I know, figured that out already a long time ago.

BTW. I splited the Rebel Alliance in 3 factions.
Rebel Alliance (lots of hero's)
Mon Calamari (bigger ships)
Bothan (stronger Intelligence)
And because of the fact that my mod starts 10 years after RotS, it is possible to get 'Obi Wan' and 'Yoda' hero-components (both still alive in this period)
Also added a lot of characters from the 2 major triologies:
Grand Admiral Thrawn
Admiral Daala
Tol Sivron
Dr Wqi Xux
And the Noghri. (unique planet trait)
another unique planet trait is Kashyyyk, which gives the Rebel player Wookiee groundforces....

Im having problems with the star wars v1.03 mod, I keep getting a box at the end of the turn saying AI General Settings Errors, and I was wondering when you play this game, does the AI play against you, or do you have to play with another person, or what am I doing wrong here hehehe.
Please I need help, Im dying to play this Mod.
