PBW will be down this saturday morning for a couple hours. Our ISP is doing a hardware upgrade. Hopefully this will improve the speed and reliability of the connection in the long term but it will cause some inconvienence this weekend.

Before I take the server offline I will shut down the automatic turn processing. This will mean that all games set to Fully automatic turns will function like they are set to After Last Player Uploads.

Once the server is back online there is a very good chance, almost a guarantee actually, that our IP address will have changed. This means you won't be able to reach the site by using the seiv.pbw.cc address. I will make a post here giving you the new IP address which you will be able to enter into your browser to get you to the site. It may take a couple days to get the DNS updated to the new IP address. During this time I will leave the automatic turn processing off since there will be a certain number of people that don't see the warnings about the downtime and all they will know is the site is unreachable.

Once the DNS is updated I will wait a couple more days so everyone knows the site is back up to 100% before turning auto turns back on.

Just in case you think to yourself once in awhile that this PBW stuff you do is too much and it's a thankless mess...

A BIG THANK YOU from all of us who benefit from your labors!

Posting a news item on PBW itself might reduce that number.

Oh, and I'll add another vote to the Thank You motion.

Yeah, I need to do that today sometime. Unfortunatly a lot of people won't notice that until the site is offline and then all you'll get is a 404 page.

Ok, server is back up and running. Amazingly, to me anyway, the IP address has not changed so you should be able to reach the site as normal via seiv.pbw.cc.

Let me know if anything seems to be not working properly. I will leave automatic turns off at least until tommorow if no problems are reported.

Hi Geo,

Thanks for all the effort you expend on our behalf.

I'm actually having a bit of a problem with PBW - I seem unable to upload any turn files. Whenever I press the "send turn" button in either of my games (Proportions 1 and 2) I receive the following error message:

"Cannot execute player command: Bad inputs to uploadPlayerTurn."

I've actually been having this happen since last night. Anyway, figured some others may be having the same problem.

Thanks,
-Hippo

I suspect you are having some sort of browser issue. Are you using Mozilla or Opera and trying to use the Graphic UI by chance? Try using the PBW Text UI if that's the case. Or try using Internet Explorer if you want to use the Graphic UI.

Thanks, Geo. I was using IE6, but tried a reinstall. Works now.
