I had about 10 battelcruisers with missiles. For whatever reason, they would NOT fire on a stack of satellites. Why!?

Take a look at the missile's target list. Satellite isn't on it.

It's a union thing. See, if all weapons fired at all targets, there would be a lot less weapons. There were protests and everything and it kinda got ugly for a while, but when a 20000-ton missile shows up outside of your office waving a sign, you tend to cave in pretty quickly.

unless you have a larget missile you can use as a strike-breaker (or a PDC, i suppose)

Doesn't help if the PDC's strike, too.
After all, that plan would get rid of the need for PDC's.
