Maybe we should consider contacting this guy and seeing if we could use his maps and information for reference. Having actions take place on his maps would go a long way in helping attach historical names/units to add to the storyline.

While our campaign would be "fictional" it would be occuring in a historical environment especially with his identification of firebases, LZs and such by name and what was there. He also has photos to go with many of those places which should make Map Designing easier.

Good idea!

Can you handle this?

We are only creating a game map from his picture. We are not publishing or reproducing his items in any way so I don't think you need the authority. It is no different than using National Geographic maps or something like that.

I was planning to download the Topo Maps he has posted and he has some graphics and stuff added. We would only use the Topo's as reference and not really post or reproduce them, but figure it can't hurt to contact him just for the heads up.

FYI,

MapQuest (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?ovi=1&zoom=3&mapdata=XkScWOlmsdb7s9UuUNGZE zjUB7kRVRZ5Czpi%2b0S64u%2fpBE%2fiZx4GkLOu%2fsROwNN nRwQUACy%2bUnf8SuTudU8MLdPmP7doTh9YaET3SP57%2butBR en11kIeLl77kdSH60SK9wAaMOnwVNGXjje0NoVr4uZttHUBz9p Y8eoHXdZuue4S%2fcvhFCUJsKGKhR22VPYy7qpyJu8o0cUWIkd %2bUqLqFgAmHfDt5nqiagyTPFg3Ag5pmYZ0Vhm09fbUjcP8DcD ErlDRbb2xAQaGQZUJqOdsvKbPC1a%2bdDxvW025B9nr%2bgNIv x7fvw318c09xVjNCOjkmlIXBvEKjkuGn65vk4CqRz%2bz8iabj 2ppucARZKZOd5deONZurx192s3d3mNhsHJmIM88yB53HfL7DG2 J8qUMUz7JUYRcBFAWKWiZxAwFqW2upClDGr5ZhrMDJYydf3NsC PsbS1BmFrQ%3d)

Similar to www.mulitmap.com (http://www.mulitmap.com), MapQuest has a cool level of detail for North America and Europe - sadly the same doesn't go for most other areas of the world, incl. Vietnam.

Google has a great Satellite imagery of the whole planet, with high level of zooms even on Vietnam, but not enough to be of any use for SPMBT though:

Not sure if this web site is noted anywhere else, but here goes. Not quite satelitte images, but some era maps of vietnam, including tactical maps of Hue, Nha Trang and various other maps.

Try this link

Follow the page down for various maps and images. Not sure if they are any use to anyone?

Good sites, just viewing them, made me happy that some of them are in 1:50k scale, that's scale I usually use as a basics...
