View Full Version : Ultra-quadrant mod and variations

I recently stumbled in a SEIV mod called Ultraquadrant (is it right? it´s in my other computer) that inside of every system created 9 "mini-systems" with a star and 8 planets each (pretty cramped system)...

I was thinking of a variation of this theme with 4 instead of 9 "mini-systems" for every system, and with less planets for each "mini-system", the adding of asteroids and storms, and so on...

since every system is a 13x13 grid, each mini-system would have a 5x5 size allowing space among the mini-systems and for the warppoints in the system borders...

As every mini-system will have 25 sectors i was thinking in a about 5 planets, 1 asteroid and 1 storm for each system, and about 2 in 5 planets would have moons.... all of this an average...

I have some ideas for other kinds of mini-systems... like dead mini-systems with only asteroids and maybe binary or even trinary mini-systems (would a storm mini-system be cool?)...

The main objective of this mod would be to increase the number of objects in a maxed quadrant (255 systems) so we could have bigger quadrants in a indirect way, and in a less cramped and variated way than the Ultraquadrant mod...

My main problem is: i´m too lazy to mod it and it would take forever to code a reasonable number of systemtypes to assure a certain randomness in every system...

This post is only an idea suggestion for modders out there... i will start modding it myself, but i probably would only finish it when SEVI is launched...

EDIT: lot of spelling errors...

I seem to recall a discussion on this mod originally a long time ago... I belive the intention was to simulate a form of hyperspace travel rather than Warp Point travel IIRC.

It wasn't that long ago. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I thought Geo had included 4 systems per "system" as an option, but apparently not. Both are doable within the same mod, using different quadrant options.
