Ok, couple of questions. First, I have the original SE IV. I'm wondering what I'm missing by not haveing SE IV Gold? And is there a way to upgrade to it? If not, perhaps somone could slip me the Gold version? I only say that because its out of print, lol or at least I've not seen it for sale recently.
Good game and I plan on buying the next one as long as it doesnt turn out to be like MOO 3 (cringe).

A big thing you are missing I think is Drones. Also a Patch I believe will bring you up to gold.
You can get it at, http://www.malfador.com/ I pretty sure you can just patch it and have gold.

Nope, if you have the original (non-Gold) SEIV you can not update to Gold...yet.
Malfador is bringing out a Deluxe version of SEIV within a few months (Published by Strategy First), and from what I heard, Aaron will patch both Gold and Non-Gold versions of SEIV up to Deluxe. I'm not sure of this though, so I could be wrong.

Apparently you missed my original statement that I couldnt find it for sale around here. I could order it from the Net but I hate to wait. I called around and no one has it.
Is there a reason why it can't be made available for download as freeware?
Would shrapnel people be mad if I asked someone to send me the game? I figure since it isnt for sale anymore what would hurt by me "pirating" a copy, especially since its outa print and hard to find.

It will be rereleased in September as SE4 Deluxe.

The game would have to be licensed as freeware by Malfador, as Shrapnel does not own the copyright to the game. And it has not been, so sending out pirated copies would definitely be frowned upon. Just wait until September and you should be able to download a patch to update your copy of SEIV Classic to the SEIV Deluxe version that will be coming out.

You could always buy someones spare copy. Post an ad and see if any one has a spare they would be willing to sell.

Which is very fortunate, because if I understand things correctly, publishers usually insist on owning the copyright to anything they publish... of course, the nice folks at Shrapnel might be able to be convinced to release it as freeware just as easily (or easier) as Malfador, but that's rather irrelevant since Malfador's decided to go commercial with it and release some sort of patch as well http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
