Well it looks like we just might be ready to take another step off of this world.
I wonder how much 40 years of tech advances will change the package. Perhaps we'll get a live video chat from the moon http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
EDIT:Bad link-try this one Moon Shot (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,16023410-38198,00.html)

From Thermo's linked article:
...the House also insisted that NASA concentrate on space research...
Yeah, no s**t. So I guess that means NASA have to stop doing all that non-space research they are currently so famous for...
Seriously though, it's nice to see a little scientific adventure happening again, although I really think NASA ought to be focussing on meeting its commitments to the ISS before devoting launches to other projects. Of course these moonshots are probably a few decades away, so I guess they are unlikely to clash with potential ISS launches.

Well, NASA -was- heavily involved in building the first supersonic planes, and I imagine they still have a fair amount of earthbound research going on.

It's the National AERONAUTICS and Space Administration. They're supposed to do research into terrestrial technology, at least as far as flight goes. If you take the first 'A' out, then it just becomes NSA... and that can't happen, because the acronym is already taken http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
