New PBW game! Someone will take over an empire, and play it, for a day. Then that person will be kicked, and another person gets the chance to take it over!
Tell me here if you want to try it out, I'll make sure you get a turn. The empire will be created by me once the first player sends a 'dummy' empire in, as to not let the first person have too much control in it.

Interesting idea. So, just one player spot and some AI? And to clarify, each person get's it for a 24 hour period? Or does each person get it for one turn? You could do a lot of turns in one day I'm thinking. Some people could probably finish a game in a day.

I'd guess the 24 hour period. Unless you know of a way to limit the amount of turns a person does in a day, that is. And yes, it's just one player spot and some AI. The fourm is open, so anyone can discuss stuff in there. I'd like to allow other people to download the savegames, however, so they can observe...

You can set it to no automatic turns and process the turn only when you kick the last player to make room for the next.
I think it would make a more interesting game to limit control by turns. Ideally, you'd get a sizable group of players and rotate through them. With a good mix of skill levels, it could be an interesting way for good players to try to educate poor players. It would also make an interesting exercise in documenting your empire's organization and plans in game so the later players don't get confused.
I'm not sure, but I think PBW might let players who are pending join download the .gam file. If so, you could set it up with a whole bunch of unused player slots so people could join, download the turn, and withdraw.

That could work... Can you start a game with open spaces?

I don't think so, but you could let everyone who's interested sign up for a slot and fill the rest with dummy accounts that you kick after starting. In fact, the list of players on PBW would be an excellent place to keep track of the waiting list. You'd only really need one space open to allow pure spectators to download the turns.

Another question. Will they be able to send in savegames, messing up the balance of the game?

Only the game host can do anything directly to the .gam file. Players can only upload .plr files, and the only one any player could possibly make that would be valid is for the human player, unless they manage to guess your game master password. I don't know exactly how PBW handles those uploads, so it might be possible for a player on the waiting list to upload a turn and have it overwrite what the current player uploaded, but if that happens you can just kick the offending player and not allow him/her back in. Players can't upload anything until they've been approved by the host, so you can easily just withhold approval from any rulebreakers trying to get back in.
