Ok, hows this? Image isn't small though, so it may take a minute to load on smaller connections. Look at the light blue circle in the area of central British Columbia. That signifies me (and Bearclaw too I guess!). Hows it look?

Douglas, check out the image below, it's been updated to show your approximate position. Please let me know if it's too far off http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif It's in a rather light-polluted area, so the blue is a little difficult to pick out.
Narf, I "borrowed" the image from the Astronomy Picture of the Day archive. Here's the link to the original image (though mine looks a little darker for some reason...hmmm.)

You must be confusing the Netherlands with Sweden or something. The Netherlands would be completely covered by a dot on that map, so not to worry about that.
If you still want particulars, somewhere not too far below Rotterdam.

For areas with multiple people a number instead of a a bunch of dots over each other might be the best way to go.

And a color that has more contrast would help too. Light blue doesn't work too well for a map that is largely dark blue with spots of white where there is lots of light during nightime.
Lots of red dots might look like you're planning on sending missiles to all those places, thus ensuring your dominance of the SE Universe. And you wouldn't do that... right? Right?!
So I suggest a bright green.
And if you're keeping track of rough coordinates, it might be cool to get a really big map eventually. Like 4000 x 1700 pixels. Then we can all print out a big copy for the war room. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

You've placed Ragnarok in western Poland http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif A little more to the left (2 or 3 dot-widths would do) would be more accurate I think. Or am I mistaken?

Now why didn't I find that one? Think I'll update the map with the new map, a LOT more locations, better colors, and (maybe) crosshairs. I was actually thinking about crosshairs just before looking at this thread http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Emperor's Child: Totally agree. Will be the one I use.
Any suggestions for colors? The new map will create different coloring problems, so any suggestions welcome. If there's no suggestion, I'll just use whatever I think is best, so it'll turn out ugly http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Also, multiple colors are possibilities, perhaps for different regions? Might clash though...
Will suggested bright green for the old map, might work here too. The old light/bright blue may work better too. I'm not sure.
Oh, and Will this map isn't quite as big as what you'd wanted, but 2048x1024 isn't a bad start! Work shall begin on the new map tonight when I get home!
