Has anyone ever got this error while processing a simultaneous game turn? I'm about 120 turns into a single-player game using P&N and I get this error and the only thing I can do is hit Alt-F4...

No. But once, while backing up my SE4 directory with Nero, it balked at a filename in the FQM folder. Something about the name being too long to meet standards or some such foo. Any any rate, it's possible the "folder within a folder to the 8th power" layout of your SE4 directory may be too much for Windows to handle, even if it could handle it before. Just a guess, really.

I guess if you were using Microsoft, it probably didn't give you the 'file name' did it? I know 98SE and some of the early Windows OS's can't use names over 12 characters in length (you probably know that already). Maybe one of the memory locations was corrupted, It can happen! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif Shut it down and try rebooting. If you still get the error then just scan (scandisk) through the data folder and check all the folders and files for readability by the drive.

Thread necromancy time! I am getting this "Invalid Filename" error when ending my turn. I have not changed any filenames since the last time I played and it worked. This happens with stock se4 as well as mods.
