I'm still on the demo and have a question that's been nagging me.

What's the deal with Racial Experience? What effect does it have?

Not much... basically it shows how "used" a race is, by saving the empire in a game, then using it in another, and another, and another, etc...

Thanks Will. I thought it might be something like that but I couldn't really see a purpose -maybe for PBEM games to determine how much 'skill' someone has with a race but that doesn't make much sense, to lower your exp. you simply create the exact same race and name it differently.

On the MM site, Q&A section, it says that racial experiance provides small benefits at higher levels, or something like that. It doesn't explain what the benefits are.
My race always seems to be newborn as I am always starting over due to all the great new mods being made http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

I haven't noticed any bonuses as far as production, SY rate, reproduction, combat, etc., even when a slight bug in one of the beta Versions gave me maximum experience (2 million). Maybe a score bonus, but I don't exactly know how the scores are calculated... http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

Highest experience I ever got excepting that small bug up there was about 75k experience... long way to go to 2 million http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

If you keep the same "Race" that you had in a game it will build up from a "newborn" one draw back is that ALL the ships that you made are there and if you have not that Teck level in the new game you can not build em so you remake em all over http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon9.gif

It does save your ship designs if you keep saving your empire. They don't become available until you have all the required techs researched. Once all the techs needed are researched you can build a saved ship.

But having every design from starting tech to the Last stages of the game in your lists is very spammy. It would be nice if there was a button like the "hide obsolete" but to 'hide unavailable' so you won't see the designs that you don't have tech for.

Yes it would be nice if your designs only appeared once you had all the technology to build the ship. Then you could use the obselete button to keep your list short.
