Well, I'm kinda looking for a mod that makes Ship combat more tactical and adds more emphasis on Ground Combat then what there currently is. (Right now I'm trying the ST mod... and, to be honest, I just dislike the look of Startrek Ships (Love Atrocities work though!))

Well, thanks.

GritEcon, Carrier Battles and the new Adamant in development (which is borrowing from GritEcon and Carrier Battles for ground combat model) all make ground combat far more interesting. The first two are MP only and Adamant has only basic AI support, so you need to play them with other humans (such as PBW)...

I get that alot. You can, if you like, use other models. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

My like of ST ships mostly comes from my like of the ST show. I dunno, I just can't get poetic about them.

(Which has nothing to do with AT's artistic ability; in fact, your unique ship designs made me like ST ships more)

I'm going to second the Carrier Battles recommendation. It's still going through some balance issues, but for the most part, battles are really big slugfests, and a few tweaks to combat strategies for individual ships or fleets can make all the difference in a battle.

Ground combat just takes a long time. There's only one ground combat round per turn, and troops can take a lot of damage, but dish very little out (on the order of, a light infantry troop can deal 4 damage, and take 50). It can take several turns to capture even a small colony.

Note that infantry are for defense...
For attacking, you will want some heavy tanks with the big guns so you get much better damage ratios.

The trick to winning ground combat is to blockade the planet and prevent the enemy from dropping relief troops while you flood the planet with reinforcements.

Eclipse Mod was designed with tactical combat and hotseat\solo gameplay in mind. Planets are also considered very valuable in Eclipse, so it would be a waste to glass. You could give it a shot.

Its ok that people don't like the ship sets. The beauty of SEIV is that you can use whatever ship sets you want. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
