Hi
I have been playing star trek evolution for a few weeks, I was number one ranked in the game, and had been doing things in it for absoloutly AGES, I felt very happy as this was only my second pbw game I have ever done.
the game admin kicked me, I am not sure if it is because of late turns as he said "slackers will be kicked" or if it is because of my empire, I will explain in a min, anyway, he has not answered any of my emails, and on the pbw page it says my empire is dead.
I have been really busy over the past 2 weeks as I have been upgrading all my servers here (been reinstalling win 2k3 and changing network topology) basically it has overrun to 2 weeks, as everyone knows, things like this always take longer than you expect.
I sent a email saying let the AI take my turns until I get back as I have done long production queues, but nothing.
The other thing was my empire had klingon tech as well as pirate, as orion, but when I joined the game, I was told I can have this, it was only for a weapon mount much later on, and if I was told, I would not of used it.
I invested a lot of time, and I was number 1, I jus feel like a fool http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
is there anything I can do? or can anyone recommend another game that needs a player, or a new one starting soon?
Thanks
Slick

Everyone has real life issues from time to time. It is considered good form to make RL issues known to other players ASAP so that they are not frustrated by late turns. The player should also attempt to get a temporary or replacement player so as not to hold up the game.
If game rules were stated ahead of time, even gentlemen's rules, and they were broken, the game admin should take action for fairness of other players who did follow the rules. If this was done unintentionally, it's a learning experience. If it was done intentionally, or carelessly not not reading the game rules - which is also intentional, then this can damage a player's reputation. In games that use role playing, it should be expected that the "evil, backstabbing" empire will be evil and backstab - that's not a black mark on the player's name for role playing in-character.
As you stated, since SEIV takes a long time to play multiplayer and people do invest a lot of time in a game, they want to have fun. I even enjoy my own buttkikkins and take them as learning experiences. This community is very mature and pretty accomodating, but be aware that a player's in-game reputation does cause others to evaluate participating in a game. I personally give all players the maximum benefit of the doubt of being a good sport right off the bat - unless proven otherwise in-game; in which case I don't make a big deal out of it, but just don't play in games with poor sports.
Just my 1x10^-2 dollars.

Well, for the "what can I do" part, the only thing you can really do is what you've already done, contact the game admin. The problem is, once an empire has been declared dead like yours has, I don't think there's any way to bring it back and have a player take it over. So unfortunate as it may be, I think you may be out of luck. Sorry http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I know it sucks to invest so much time in something, then have it all for nothing. But think of it this way; you had fun while it lasted, didn't you?

This is what you get when you fail to inform the game host that your going to miss turns. Most are fed up with people joining their games just to miss a [censored] load of turns without ever mentioning as to why. I am sure the other players were glad to see you kicked after missing turns.

This is incorrect. A PBW admin can change the status of the empire to let someone take it over again.
In this case, we'd need the game host to tell us he was willing to have you reinstated.

In case you missed it, Wilhil said he told the game host he would be absent.

I sent a email to everyone in the game saying that I would be absent for about 1 week, but I have long queues set up, I even got someone to post in the in game forum on my behalf to tell the game admin, but he just does not check his emails and I did not see any reply to the comment made in the forum, but above all that, I did my last 2 turns, been playing for a while, left the game for about 1 and a half weeks, but had it set up to work with lists when I was gone, came back, did 2 turns, then I was kicked.
I hate that person! but I am in a diffrent game with him where he is not the admin, so I am going to hunt him down!
anyway, anyone got any open slots in any other star trek mod game, hopefully with turns above 48 hours prefered...
Thanks
edit - look at my post number!

If that is the case and he was kicked then he has every right to be be ticked off. In cases like this, it is often easier to assign him back to his empire. However since the empire has been taken over..... move on.

According to the latest game news, you were kicked for having both Klingon and Pirate tech, yet you said the host allowed this! Looks like you were cheated. The best thing you can do is never play with that host again. Be glad you're out of the game and instead, find a more even-handed host to play with.

Carrying grudges across games is considered very bad form. Be careful.

Then again, so is kicking someone from a game when they've advertised their upcoming absence, then came back and were playing again!

Actually I think I was kicked for the multi techs instead of being away, although to tell you the truth, I am really not sure which,
The only reason I had klingon tech playing as orions was because I was told I was allowed, it is for just one weapon mount that allows me to have a weapon for 16kt instead of 20kt (off the top of my head), and maybe one facility that the orions do not have, and if anyone was annoyed, I would of been happy not to use any of it.
