What's a villain to do?

Here I am - trying to be a 'sum*****' and spacing insurgents. Yet after loading them into a shuttle - I can't unload them into space! Embarrassing! How are the rest of you 'Nero's' accomplishing that?

On a related note - when loading pop - 1 mill are left behind - how do I scoop them up as well without abandoning the colony?

Jettison cargo button will space your rebles for you.

Can't get the last 1 mill off without abandoning. You can put a different race down there first, then you can get them off. Thats the only way I know of, aside from plagues, but you can't infect your own planet.

You can abandon the colony to kill off the remaining popultion: if you ask to keep your facilities, you *will* retain the colony, but there won't be anyone (so it won't function).

I suppose you could also use a Planet Destroyer if you want to kill them all without doing any abandoning, or a Star Destroyer if you have the resources (a Black Hole Creator if you want to make sure nobody is going to use this system anytime soon).

I do not believe you can load up the last 1 M. What you could do is abandon the planet and leave the facilities intact, then recolonize it. Or, drop whatever pop you are replacing it with first, then space the unwanted pop.

You could go into the settings.txt file and set teh abandon planet population limit high enough to be able to abodon fully populated planets.
