Do you think we could get some space made for us to have polls done on subjects, such as the Civil War.
Make it you must leave you name to vote, with the vote box staying at the start of the string.
Give the vote say 5 days maximum length before being closed, more than enought ime for everyone to vote.
It would not be a dicussion room but just a voting area.
If the idea gets an overall YES then it get posted off to MM for his consideration.

Thank you Aussie. This is my idea with the civil war vote thread. Except I have to manually keep reposting the overall results. Until a poll forum would be implemented I will continue to do upgrade my thread.

BTY if anyone hasn't voted yet head on over to the civil war poll/vote thread and give us your opinion.

Also, I think the time the poll runs should be longer than 5 days maybe two weeks. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

A quick question for Chewy027, but first I just want you to know that I'm almost to the point where I'm gonna vote on the civil war issue. I'm mostly a lurker around here but after seeing your personal plea to everyone who Posts, in every topic, I feel just about motivated enough to go type a number in.

Which leads me to my question, in all of your Posts you write "BTY", what does that stand for? I should probably know it by now but I just learned what "IIRC" stands for a while back.

If BTY isn't a typo for BTW, I don't know what it means, either.

BTW, BTW means By The Way. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

I laughed for about 5 minutes after I read this http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon10.gif

The first time I wrote BTY it was a typo. I did mean BTW. But after that I just kept writing it waiting for something like this. I realized someone might ask what it meant, so after some thought I decided I'd go with Best Topic Yet http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gifanyway that was the best I could come up with.

and Facetious a vote would be greatly apreciated http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif I'm sorry I keep asking for people to vote but I really want to see what people think.

Actually, my theory was that you lived somewhere that "way" is pronounced like "why", making it a sort of pun.

The poll idea has been rejected by Sharpnel, they say that they don't have the room.
Oh well we'll just have to make really long strings and take up room that way instead! Go figure!!!

No the problem is you request seemed to indicate you wanted some sort of poll software installed so you can run Polls.

If that is not the case what do you want?

Aussie,
You can use FreeVote.com
It gives you a way to set up polls without any software.
I use this site for a clan I run in Earth2025.

No, I haven't voted on the civil war thread, because I haven't made up my mind about it. It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure I want it more/less than a lot of other things MM could also work on.

Richard,
I wanted Sharpnel to have some way for the players to run polls on this site, or via approval of a moderator.
I don't want to use a different site as this is the official site for the game.
This would allow the players to indicate, by voting, if they like something, such as a component etc, so then MM can, if he wants to, to include the idea in the game.
I know that there are a lot of heavily modified games, me for one, which would make it hard to run a player league or something like that, which would require a standard game to be used.
I asked for this as Cheewy027 "I think that's how you spell his name" is doing a poll on Civil war, he has to repost the poll results so they are at the top of the string.
Thanks
Rick

capn'q that sentiment is echoed by just about everyone who gives a low vote. They would rather have some other things addressed first. I'm not saying that MM should put this in right away. All I'm asking people to vote on is the concept; the idea of going through a civil war and if EVENTUALLY they would like to see it implemented. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

Anyway when your good and ready I'll be waiting to add your (hopefully high) vote to the tally http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

IMO, pronouncing "way" as "why" would be more of a British cockney thing than a Southern US thing.

Spoken like a true american. Us Brits don't all talk like Dick Van Dyke in "Mary Poppins" you know. In fact none of us do. I think some Australians might use that accent though.

A cockney "way" would not be anything like "why". A really strong Midlands (Dudley / Birmingham accent) "way" might sound a bit like "why". Other than that I can't think of any UK accents which would sound like that.

I'm sure someone will disagree though=-)

I live in Texas and vist New Orleans, have been to Tenn and ark and N.C. S.C, AL. and Missippi. We all say way as in by the way.

Alot of the words, we actually pronounce a lot better then my friends from New York.

In defense of the Brits and Ausses. I work with a number of both and they say Way also.

Which is exactly why I added the "Cockney" bit in; I've been to England, and not once heard an accent like Dick Van Dyke in "Mary Poppins" (or, for that matter, like Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady", another supposedly Cockney accent, and the source of my comment). I apologize if I wasn't clear enough. After all, not all Americans talk like John Wayne either. Nor do all Germans talk like Werner Klemperer (famous for playing Col. Klink on Hogan's Heroes).

Oh, BTW, I've been to Australia too, and there's not a Cockney accent there either; to my ears, it was more the "typical" British accent with a bit of a drawl added.

I'd consider Cajun a separate accent from "Southern", since Cajun came from the French influence (among others, of course). As for travels, my experience with the South is based more in the Southwest - Texas, New Mexico, etc.; although my fiancee lived in South Carolina for a while, and her sister lives in Tennessee... but none of them pronounce "A" as "I" (yes, another "My Fair Lady" reference).
