I 'upgraded' SEIV 1.84 to the 'deluxe' version. Woohoo! Now I can't load my premade emp files constructed in 1.84.
So - I remade the empire and saved it - except that it didn't.
Gee - what fun! Not! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

Eh?
Did you mod your stock files? That would cause the patch to break it.
Also, if you were using a mod folder, the patch will set path.txt back to "none"

Maybe so but it doesn't explain why it didn't save the re-done empire file. I don't have a mod folder in any event.

Check your directory path and make sure your not saving it somewhere else on your computer. If your using the mod launcher make sure you create an Empire folder in the mod directory for your .emp files.

When you say it didn't save, how so?
Did it give you an error of some sort and refuse to save it? Or did the file dissapear?

File seems to have disappeared. I did a SEARCH to no avail.

This only happened to me once. I edited my emp and exited back to the add emp screen. Went to save and realized that the game defaults back to the first race on the list. Check and see if you didn't save your race as the fist one that was on your list of players.
Otherwise just re-install the game and patch. Save the emp files, even though they shouldn't be written over unless you used the default names.
