Well, we had no new, decent 4x games for 5 years and now there are some on the horizon...
So I checked out www.galciv2.com (http://www.galciv2.com) and it looks like it might be sufficiently improved over GalCiv that I might be moderatly interested.
Better yet, even though the game is not done (due out in 3 months) you get into the beta if you buy it now!
Why can't we do that for SEV? I'd rather give my money to SEV than take a chance on someone who disappointed me. Maybe I'll love GalCiv2, but I know I want SEV.
So, if the Powers That Be like this idea, we get SEV beta, they get our money now for an unfinished product that we know will get done When Its Ready.
Am I dreaming that this might happen or should I get GalCiv2 Beta now?

okay NEVER do that again. damnd I was like inches away from a heartattack.
and I dont think it'll happen.
edit: I'm talking about the SEV public beta eh, not the heartattack, well I'd rather have that not happening too but you never know.

From what I have heard, Aaron does not want to work with a large beta tester group.

I have to agree. This has always been my thought as well.

I concur with Fyron and Atrocities. I can't imagine having to deal with anymore than 50 testers for a single developer...

Yeah I think we overwhelm Aaron a bit as it is with all of our ideas and such.

What I would really like to see is a beta demo released, just locked to maybe either small galaxy, 1 enemy, unlimited turns, or full game with 100 turns limit.
as I said in previous posts, look at aoe3, they released a highly restrictive, and old beta, and that did not affect anything, the monks walked on their backs, loads of features were half implemented... there are quite a few other errors...
I would love to see a demo released... well maybe not, I have work to do and I do not want to become addicted to it!

Puts Iron Giant on a Planet of Phong as an Icaran Purification comes in......a few minutes later Iron Giant suffers a Curbstomp!
NEVER DO THAT AGAIN! I was thinking "YAY! FInally a glimpse at SEV"

When I saw the thread title, I figured someone had broken his NDA! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif
I guess I'm odd. I am not interested in playing a flawed, half-baked product. I want it to be as good as they can make it so I don't have to vent when my fleet disappears for no good reason or no matter how hard I hit the monitor, the troops just won't load onto the transport.
I want the finished product and will be glad to wait as long as it takes.

Heh, I think that after we finish a chat session Aaron curls up into the fetal position, rocks back and forth for a few hours before heading for a large deep bottle of something intoxicating http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Oh well, being demanding will make a better product, and that's our job!
