Resource storage ability only works on facilities.

And it doesn't stop you from placing supply storage on bases. Which can be confusing.

Of course, you CAN mod it in, by making bases ships with no movement. I believe that ingame bases and ships are the same thing, except that bases don't keep track of resources.

NA, that has nothing to do with the topic.

Now, you can make bases *BE* resource storage, after a fasion, if you make a maintenance free hull that costs a lot, but can be scrapped to get the resources back. You'd have to make it tiny, so that it can't fit anything except some 1kt storage pods, for example. The pods would add a big resource cost in one particular resource, so that you could make a minerals base or a rads base, or whatever mix you want.

Yeah, but its probably the closest you can get to bases storing resources.

How does Pirates & Nomads handle resource storage? They found ways to work around the need for planets for most things. Maybe the mod didn't need it, on the assumption that pirates and nomads would not generally store stuff. (Plan for the future? AAAAAAAAR!)

Oh, wait, resource storage. Okay, misread the question. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Pirates have insanely powerful resource storage facilities (pirate hordes). Nomad ships are extremely cheap to maintain, so they can have a sizable fleet with low resource production rates. It takes a while to build it up though.
