View Full Version : Possible Cloaking Bug ?

I have tried something with two empires under (my) human control:

Empire 1 had a ship with stealth armor I, cloaking active

Empire 2 had a ship with Tachyon sensor III and couldn't see the ship of Empire 1

I have checked that with every possible sensor and cloaking level, the ship is still invisible. What's wrong ?

Can somebody please confirm this, or give me a hint on this ?

I'm just playing ver 1.30 with TDM modpack.

It seems like it should work. I would report it if it is not covered in the new patch report.

This possible bug just appears if you turn on one of these general options:
-All systems seen by all players
-Omnipresent view of all systems

I don't know which of them is the root cause, I have just switched them (both) on for my tests.

Does empire 2 have a ship with tachyon scanners in the system, where it can't see the cloaked ship of empire 2?

Yes it has. Tachyon III versus stealth armor I, Hyper Optic III versus cloaking device I to III, nothing to see. I've tried every sensor type. Can you confirm/test this with the settings, please:
-All systems seen by all players
-Omnipresent view of all systems

Or is it just something in my data folder which has been messed up ?

Thanks in advance...

P.S.: EVERY nebulae system obscures everything invisible in it also with this settings

I think you found a bug. I had similar problems as you and satellites coudn't be seen at all even with the cloaking beeing turned off! So I suggest you send your savegame to MM.

I'll do that. Thanks for confirmation, Q.

Are you sure the satellite was not obscured by a storm/nebulae phenomenon ? In my test-game (attached, if someone is interested..., it has two Baseships with SY-component, so you can change scanners/stealth armor/cloaking device...) I can see the other ones sat. I guess the bug is just an "out of order" of the scanners.

Yes I am sure. The satellites were in orbit around a planet. It seems that if that satellite has any component with cloaking ability this will make it invisible, even if the cloaking is not activated. With ships it's just that if the cloaking (no matter what level) is activated you can't detect it with any, even the best, sensors.

If you like I can post the savegame file here.

That's interesting, I've just tested the sats only equipped with a sat computer core, nothing else. I hope this will be fixed in one of the next patches, although most of us likely don't play with omnipresent view.

Next time (when cloaking is fixed) I will start a game with this setup, I wonder how good the AI will deal with this god-like ability... and maybe there are more surprises ?
