Today is a sad day for all fans of serious sci.-fi. On his 85 year, died Stanislav Lem, one of the greatest amd most inspiring authors. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

That is very sad http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif He is on my list of "authors to read", as long as I can find his work translated into a language I can read http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

But I do know he was one of the masters of sci-fi, and it's always sad to see one of the great ones go.

It's very sad to me, too. Stanislaw Lem was the great person and writer.

One of the first.. maybe even the first S-F book I've ever read was his 'Tales of Pilot Pirx'... I was about twelve or thirteen years old. 'Tales...' are obligatory reading in secondary school in Poland, but it was true, really enjoying, obligatory reading.

Thanks him I started reading the others great S-F authors like Isaac Asimov, David Breen, Artur C. Clarke.

Later I've read few other his books and my favorite ones 'Solaris' and 'The Unvanquished'. Now I see that I haven't read all his books. Time to make up for this.

I'm the lucky one... I don't need translated versions.
