I've just found the neural combat net in a PBW game, and I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not it's worth using. I can find very little information about how it works. It might be nice to have new ships automatically trained, but...
Does it apply to all ships who have it, or only to those in the same fleet?
Is it worth the price?

All ships in a fleet that are equipped with one will inherit the highest ship experience available in the fleet during combat. I believe the effect is only added to the to-hit roll, and not to defense.

It is not limited by fleet, only by which other ships owned by the same player are in combat and also have the NCN. It is only applied to offense, not defense, and a ship can only receive the benefits of higher experience from a ship with a lower ship ID. For an explanation of what ship ID is, I'll just refer you to the FAQ where my original and most detailed explanations are collected.

This benefit is only temporary right?

Which FAQ? I looked in the Frequently asked questions for newbies thread here and couldn't find anything about the Neural Combat Net. Can you post which section it's in if it's there? I tried doing a find on the page and nothing turned up.

He was talking about what ship ID is, not the neural combat net. Ship ID is apparently used for movement order as well.

Thanks. That section on ship ID is quite good. I recommend it as important reading for any player who is serious about understanding the inner workings of the game, and their effects on game play.
In the case of the neural combat net, it's certainly a complicating factor.
